knowitnone3··on TigerBeetle and Synadia pledge $512k to the Zig Software Foundation
Let's not forget Synadia donated NATS to CNCF and tried to take it back https://www.infoq.com/news/2025/05/nats-cncf-open-source/
knowitnone3··on Project Amplify: Powered footwear for running and walking
"designed to help everyday athletes* go a little bit faster and farther" When is the last time an athlete said I'm looking to go a little faster and farther with the aid of a powered device? Their target market is all wrong. This would be great if aimed towards low mobility users.
knowitnone3··on Show HN: LLM Rescuer – Fixing the billion dollar mistake in Ruby
Or have LLM catch these errors during development
knowitnone3··on Debian Technical Committee overrides systemd change
Not even in defense of your own life, family, others? You have a lot of people on HN that celebrate killing of then innocent.
knowitnone3··on MinIO stops distributing free Docker images
old documentation doesn't help when the software changes
knowitnone3··on What do we do if SETI is successful?
Send memes. Most commenters here assume receiving a message means aliens can reach us - they can't. Think about how distant the closest galaxy is and think about how long it would take to reach them even at light speed. The size of the ship needed, the amount of fuel needed not only for acceleration but stopping as well. Even if they 100x or 1000x our space abilities, it would still be impossible.
knowitnone3··on Alibaba Cloud says it cut Nvidia AI GPU use by 82% with new pooling system
It's much easier to copy what others are doing instead of spending the time and money for research and engineering. It's also much easier if you steal the tech. I could never have invented a bicycle but I can sure make a copy of one.
knowitnone3··on Ask HN: How to stop an AWS bot sending 2B requests/month?
Microsoft
knowitnone3··on Zorin OS 18
I haven't used it yet be KDE Linux(still in testing) looks to be promising immutable distro
knowitnone3··on Improving the Trustworthiness of JavaScript on the Web
everyone gets the same version that sends your secure messages to another server? I'm impressed.
knowitnone3··on Apple M5 chip
"make me want to update this year to the m5." Then Apple software devs did what they were told
knowitnone3··on Intel Announces Inference-Optimized Xe3P Graphics Card with 160GB VRAM
Any business people here that can explain why companies announce products a year before their release? I can understand getting consumers excited but it also tells competitors what you are doing giving them time to make changes of their own. What's the advantage here?
knowitnone3··on Show HN: SQLite Online – 11 years of solo development, 11K daily users
As a rabbit, I'd rather carrots...

Isn't this comment a form of Brit defaultism?

knowitnone3··on How hard do you have to hit a chicken to cook it? (2020)
The question posed is not "how hard" but "how many times and how hard". You can't cook a chicken in one hit because that amount of heat requires a large amount of force which then obliterates the chicken. There's a video on youtube that tries to answer this question.
knowitnone3··on N8n raises $180M
what's lame about it? I read the comments specifically for alternative tools. Often times, commenters provide links to other tools and nobody has ever complained...until you came along
knowitnone3··on A competitor crippled a $23.5M bootcamp by becoming a Reddit moderator
a simple lawsuit will fix this. reddit has lots of money
knowitnone3··on Vectrex Mini
Thing is, if they can engineer it then, we can certain engineer it now.
knowitnone3··on Julia 1.12 highlights
You're purposefully being disingenuous. README me says "If you're having issues with v2 outputs use the latest v1". That's a big "If". How about If it's not ready for production use, say so explicitly in the README - not maybe use it but maybe don't use it.
knowitnone3··on How we are building Audacity 4
"Audacity does not store any personal information of any kind, and never did."

That's a claim we'll never truly know. Also, one auto-update will ruin your day.

knowitnone3··on How we are building Audacity 4
and how are you tied to these groups with their "fine video"
knowitnone3··on Microsoft is about to launch free Xbox Cloud Gaming with ads
I'm sure there's a torrent for that
knowitnone3··on Gem.coop
I just want to know how much was David Radcliffe getting paid for his time?
knowitnone3··on Gem.coop
Socket.dev states "Since at least March 2023". RubyGems says "Our team first detected this activity on July 20th". This attack has ran for almost 5 months undetected. I wouldn't feel reassured at all.
knowitnone3··on How we are building Audacity 4
GPL doesn't guarantee you security in any way, shape, or form nor is a privacy policy.
knowitnone3··on When private practices merge with hospital systems, costs go up
Costs go up on paper because now they need to charge people more while pretending they are starving. Costs in all other industries go down with mergers.
knowitnone3··on Inkjet printer with DRM-free ink will be launched via a crowdfunding campaign
like inkjet expiration chips
knowitnone3··on Inkjet printer with DRM-free ink will be launched via a crowdfunding campaign
I wouldn't buy anything from Brother. Their website is Ugly, search has never works properly, printer is thin plastic flimsy, cartridges also thin flimsy plastic. Even downloading their software is horrible!
knowitnone3··on Inkjet printer with DRM-free ink will be launched via a crowdfunding campaign
This is nice and all but I live in a college town and I can get at a minimum 10 free printers per year. Printer companies don't make money on the printer, it's the ink that makes them money.
knowitnone3··on Codeberg Reaches 300k Projects
what other metric do you propose we use? fake download metrics?
knowitnone3··on Ubuntu 25.10's Rust Coreutils Is Causing Major Breakage for Some Executables
so why create Wayland when we had X? why create another linux distro when there are so many already? why create C if we already had assembly? why create new model cars every year? why architect new homes every year? What you are proposing is we stop making changes or progress.
