knowThySelfx··on Hackers 'led warplanes to Syrian hospital' after targeting surgeon's computer
Indeed, people have become skeptical of the mainstream narrative. Why does that happen? Because things don't add up.
knowThySelfx··on Blocklist Facebook domains
Why only Facebook? All companies which store data are suspect.
knowThySelfx··on WhatsApp co-founder tells everyone to delete Facebook
I guess what Snowden said is true. FB is a surveillance company under the guise of social network. FB is not the only one in this case. All companies which store info could be suspect.
knowThySelfx··on WhatsApp co-founder tells everyone to delete Facebook
This is even with most of the global mainstream media supporting Hilary and party. And now the media wants to divert their failures to some social media effect - as if FB only showed pro Trump news.
knowThySelfx··on WhatsApp co-founder tells everyone to delete Facebook
Delete Facebook? Then what about WhatsApp? Isn't it owned by FB now ;)
knowThySelfx··on A startup is pitching a mind-uploading service that is “100 percent fatal”
No, I wasn't accusing you at all. In fact, was agreeing with you. Just that I used a bit of sarcasm by pointing out how it is in here.
knowThySelfx··on A startup is pitching a mind-uploading service that is “100 percent fatal”
Relax, it is not gonna happen. Even if it "happens" in a sense, it won't be "them". Tech dissent is not much appreciated in yc, esp when a yc fellow is backing this.
knowThySelfx··on A startup is pitching a mind-uploading service that is “100 percent fatal”
Have got a very bad feeling about this. Makes you wonder what really is "You" or "I". Just a collection of memories in your brain? Do people here approve of the idea of soul? Most probably won't because there's no "scientific" proof for it yet.
knowThySelfx··on The Quantum Thermodynamics Revolution (2017)
Both papers published simultaneously... How does that happen? But the probability of that happening seems to be more since the last 100 years ;)

And no, I don't have any research papers or statistics to back up my statements. Just saying from observing this pattern on reading upon many of the stories about inventions/discoveries etc.

BTW, what is the probability of others feeling the same about this "observation"?

knowThySelfx··on MPEG-2 Patents Have Expired
Maybe we can still keep the patent tag, but devoid of any other conditions except that this one tech was created by the patent holder. In this case, the "patentable" motivation will still be valid.
knowThySelfx··on How to Know When a Child’s Flu Turns Serious
You maybe down voted because people here want links and proofs.
knowThySelfx··on Science’s Pirate Queen
True, those who do the real work doesn't get paid, but the ones who publish it gets paid.
knowThySelfx··on Chinese police don high-tech glasses to nab suspects
So the car will pay the fine?
knowThySelfx··on LCUI – A small C library for building user interfaces with XML and CSS
Why people do that? It is always a good learning experience.
knowThySelfx··on Like an AI Could Ever Spot Sarcasm
Yeah I had consciousness in mind.
knowThySelfx··on Like an AI Could Ever Spot Sarcasm

knowThySelfx··on Like an AI Could Ever Spot Sarcasm
It is all context oriented. Lets see how these things develop. Lets ask a computer who just laughed at a joke "Why did you laugh? Or what made you laugh? Or Why did you find it funny?", and see what replies we get :D
knowThySelfx··on Like an AI Could Ever Spot Sarcasm
Computers are getting smarter. They can do many stuff faster than humans. They can even detect sarcasm. But do they "understand" it? Can Computers understand a subtle joke? Maybe we could train a Computer to detect jokes and make it laugh, but can it really understand a joke? Interesting topic.
knowThySelfx··on Tech Start-Up Fires Engineers Amid Union Organizing Effort
Agree with some points. The state I live in has a strong union culture. There is a tendency in which unionized places think about only "Rights", but not "Responsibilities". This in turn affects productivity. I guess when the balance tilts to their side, the union leaders try to take advantage of it; shows us human nature. The trick is to achieve correct balance. That can happen if both sides are willing to discuss and understand the aims and problems associated with it.
knowThySelfx··on Bitcoin Created by U.S. Government, Says Natalya Kaspersky
Burn em :D

That aside. Did these people who brought up Bitcoin thought that the story of Satoshi Nakomoto is even remotely believable? No one seems to be interested in finding out who really is behind all these. We rather have vague stories. It isn't easy to hide like this unless they come from those who are pulling the strings. The hype and bubble certainly reminds us of other such scams (non-internet variety) which popups up at regular intervals.

knowThySelfx··on Bill and Melinda Gates Are Paying Off Nigeria's $76M Debt to Japan
Well, nothing is free.
knowThySelfx··on An Experimental Course on Operating Systems
I think too.
knowThySelfx··on The Banana As We Know It Is Dying Again
Yes indeed, a pity. The "export worthy" Cavendish is not considered worthy in local markets though.
knowThySelfx··on The Banana As We Know It Is Dying Again
I don't think people there care for Cavendish much anyway ;) It isn't considered at par with other varieties.
knowThySelfx··on India’s TCS Faces U.S. Trial in Anti-American Bias Case
In TCS, is the salary scale same for Indians on H1B and American Citizens? (Assuming they are equally qualified/competent)
knowThySelfx··on India’s TCS Faces U.S. Trial in Anti-American Bias Case
Hiring Green card holders or Indian's of American citizenship is a different matter. They aren't gonna work for the salary of an Indian citizen on H1B. The equation changes there.

I agree, there could be a cultural angle. But I don't think that is the main reason.

knowThySelfx··on Clang runs in the browser and compiles C++ to WebAssembly
I guess we will see some changes to this as well, if Webassembly really takes off. Which is what it looks like. Could be interesting to see the kind of security issues this brings.
knowThySelfx··on India’s TCS Faces U.S. Trial in Anti-American Bias Case
He was stating his own experience - so that is his basis. When you work at some place you also see whats going on in there generally. He was not commenting about the "bias" which is what TCS is facing trial for.
knowThySelfx··on India’s TCS Faces U.S. Trial in Anti-American Bias Case
Yeah, its like a glorified sweatshop. Is it any wonder that these companies don't get any respect.
knowThySelfx··on India’s TCS Faces U.S. Trial in Anti-American Bias Case
It's really simple, these companies are using cheap labour while making a huge profit in dollars. They can under quote other companies because of this. Taking in natives mean pay has to be high.
