That question is addressed in A Farewell to Alms. It will never get much popular air time because the conclusion is basically eugenic forces. The most economically productive people had the most children in Europe, and this was not true in the rest of the world.
It bears repeating the simple fact that most places don't have wild plant food for most of the year. Pick up the army survival manual. It's mostly about how to fish and trap in many different ecosystems, because, as it explains, there isn't much wild plant food out there most of the time.
There are abundant written accounts of native north americans. There were those who grew corn and squash, which means they have little in common with paleolithic humans who had no such crops. And there are those that did not grow crops and ate mostly game and fish.
Anywhere away from the equator there is virtually no gatherable plant food for most of the year. Before domesticated crops, people clearly ate mostly animals, fish, and insects.
Go take a walk in practically any ecosystem and find edible stuff that's not an animal. There's barely anything. Primitive man clearly ate mostly animals and fish.
Muscle mass also soaks up insulin and glucose, before it accumulates as fat.
Cholesterol is not really worth measuring. Triglycerides and insulin levels/sensitivity are maybe worth measuring.
Avoiding egg yolks is stupid. All the vitamins and minerals are in the yolk.
Also, no organ meat?
The JVM and MS CLR are largely in C++.
> C/C++
He was talking about C, not C++. C++ has a good type system and also makes it easy to avoid bounds checking problems.
"Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain" made the research backed argument 30 years ago that to progress in drawing one needs large chunks of uninterrupted time when the linguistic centers of the brain remain unstimulated.
A lot of very poor countries in Africa and South America have high obesity rates. They can only afford cheap starch and not enough meat and vegetables.

The quotations of leading nutritionists need to be plastered on discussions like this, as they invalidate most of the comments.
"Weight loss achieved in clinical trials of calorie restricted diets are so small as to be clinically insignificant." --Cochrane Collaboration 2002
"It is reasonable to assume that persons with relatively high daily energy expenditures would be less likely to gain weight over time, compared with those who have low energy expenditures. So far, data to support this hypothesis are not compelling." --AHA/ACSM 2007
"The classical theory that fat is deposited in the adipose tissue only when given in excess of the caloric requirements has finally been disproved." --Ernst Wertheimer, Physiological Reviews [i.e. people in caloric deficit can still be getting fatter.]
"It may be stated categorically that the storage of fat, and therefore the production and maintenance of obesity, cannot take place unless glucose is being metabolized. Since glucose cannot be used by most tissues without the presence of insulin, it also may be stated categorically that obesity is impossible without the presence of insulin. It also may be stated categorically that obesity is impossible in the absence of adequate tissue concentrations of insulin... Thus an abundant supply of carbohydrate food exerts a powerful influence in directing the stream of glucose metabolism into lipogenesis, whereas a relatively low carbohydrate intake tends to minimize the storage of fat." --Edgar Gordon, JAMA
There's no study where they locked some people in a house full of potatoes and some people in a house full of bacon and showed that the potato people got fat. But the weight of evidence that starch and sugar cause obesity is overwhelming. Watch the video.
If you chained a person to a bed and stuffed them with lard every day, you could probably make them obese. But that's not what we are talking about. People who are eating according to their appetite get fat from consuming too much sugar and starch, which screws up the whole endocrine system. They do not get thrown out of wack and end up consuming too much food when they feed on fat.
Southern food is loaded with sugar. Sweet tea is revolting to anyone with a healthy pallet.
If by "niche" you mean "anywhere code has to run fast or in a small space." C++ is displacing C in embedded applications. The JIT compilers in Java and MS CLR are in C++. C++ is only growing for use in simulations, which remains a rapidly growing field.
C++ remains a good choice for GUI development, which is hardly niche.
The whole thing immediately looks very suspicious if you go to http://www.bluezones.com/ Obviously somebody is out to build a cult and make a lot of money.
Contrary to what they show in the movies, alcoholics and smack heads do not writhe around and wail when locked up away from their fix.
This diet is straight out of the Stalinist four year plan school. Normal people have zero chance of tolerating this. The bondage and discipline rigid planning approach doesn't work in any field. People aren't machines.
