khobragade··on Redesigned Google Fonts website
There's this phenomenal app for font conversion called Webfont Kit Generator. The feature I like the most is Subsetting, it greatly reduces the file size. You might find it useful.

khobragade··on Beaver Notes: A Privacy-Focused Open-Source Note-Taking App
> although I cannot find any link to the code nor license

It's here: https://github.com/Daniele-rolli/Beaver-Notes linked via 'Resources' at the top.

khobragade··on Anytype – local-first, P2P Notion alternative
I tried this briefly about a year ago but didn't see myself using it. They had an hour long induction session over zoom to teach how to use the tool before they sent the download link iirc. It was too complicated.

Moved on to Zotero and text/plain files for my notetaking and journaling needs ever since.

khobragade··on Bottles – Easily run Windows software on Linux
Oh cool! When I tried, I didn't detect any network activity; figured the setup isn't even downloading the files.
khobragade··on Bottles – Easily run Windows software on Linux
It didn't work the last time I tried it.
khobragade··on Ask HN: What's a good, privacy focused bookmark manager?
I use a non-synced Zotero instance. It saves everything about the pages, has snapshots for offline access and I reflect on the content in the notes. It's nice.
khobragade··on EPUB 3.3 becomes a W3C recommendation
Thorium is cool! It's open source (BSD 3) and has support for LCP to read borrowed books without the Adobe Digital Editions app (The archive is currently still working to make it available as an option though. See https://help.archive.org/help/disability-access-general-info...)
khobragade··on Ask HN: If you quit your computer job, which non-computer craft would you pick
I chose electromechanical prototyping and product design when I had the chance precisely because I'd rather use computers as tools without having to basically live inside of them :P
khobragade··on Show HN: Screenfetch for HN Comments
Looks nice!

Edit: hey vermilingua! I wish I could configure the width in ch and have the submission title left-aligned. Is this open sourced?

I really like kagi.com
khobragade··on Your.Online: Gandi continues its development
Oh yeah, they're way behind on that! It took them this long just to acknowledge the new email plans on the website I don't even care any more.
khobragade··on Your.Online: Gandi continues its development
I'll be moving my domain to Porkbun and my emails to zoho to start with, then decide what to do later on.

So long, and thanks for all the fish.

khobragade··on Your.Online: Gandi continues its development
> you get ransaked by all the emails reminding you to renew a domain

Just saw the 'Let a domain lapse' section in the domain overview. It'll stop all non-mandatory reminders of the domain's end-of-life cycle, as they say.

khobragade··on Analyzing a failed drill bit with an electron microscope [video]
True! Even my diploma in ME course has a subset of MatSci in it. Fascinating stuff.

khobragade··on Ask HN: Are there any good open source text-to-speech tools?
Yeah me too! Sadly unmet dependencies in Debian Sid; it doesn't work anymore :/
khobragade··on WhatsApp data leak: 500M user records for sale
Are there more details about this? I did look up but didn't find any.

khobragade··on Duct Tape Book Binding – Cheepo Delux
I see. I missed the _drying_ part. The moisture has to go away from the glue for it to dry. We can help here by placing a flat water absorbing material on the tape!
khobragade··on Duct Tape Book Binding – Cheepo Delux
An alternative to the clamps! I think the glue will dry without issues, though it can make a mess if there's too much.
