keysdev··on LetsEncrypt Outage
Shall we have some way of freely encrypting the web that is relying on one authority?

Especially something that needed to be renewed every 90 or is it 40 days now. How about issuing 100 years certificates as a default?

keysdev··on Staying cool without refrigerants: Next-generation Peltier cooling
It is the cheese abd soy sauce of computer science now days
keysdev··on Show HN: MCP server for Blender that builds 3D scenes via natural language
Cause github has become a advertising platform for dev. How did this get to front page without code?
keysdev··on Giving Up on Element and Matrix.org
And it forces you to have a number.
keysdev··on Giving Up on Element and Matrix.org
Ok fair. Did not know that. Just in my personal experience it is better. However like conduite for server , a lightweight http API client can be made. And communicate over https is great for crappy internet over proxy.
keysdev··on Giving Up on Element and Matrix.org
https://schildi.chat is better client than Elememt IMHO. That was the whole point of matrix federated. You dont hear ppl complain oh I am going to give up on SMTP cause outlook or fill in the blank sucks. Then make another client or server.

EDIT:

It really sucks that the default implementation is so bloated. But I do not equate matrix with element.

keysdev··on A 14kb page can load much faster than a 15kb page (2022)
That and SPA
keysdev··on Meta says it won't sign Europe AI agreement
That can be, however regulation has just changed monopolistic practices to even more profitable oligarchaistic practices. Just look at Standard Oil.
keysdev··on Run TypeScript code without worrying about configuration
esno seems a better alternative. esbulit has already solve much of that for devs.

keysdev··on Show HN: DataRamen, a Fast SQL Explorer with Automatic Joins and Data Navigation

keysdev··on Five companies now control over 90% of the restaurant food delivery market
This is just mega corporatism in general, which was first pioneered by the Nazi Germany. Now it is just exported to US disguising as capitalism.

US is just following the playbook of IG Farben back in Nazi Time.

keysdev··on Overtourism in Japan, and how it hurts small businesses
Its about time we do that. This look online for good local places to go needs to stop. You either live there for some times and discover the place by getting to know the locals or yeah you just do not get to know the place.
keysdev··on Overtourism in Japan, and how it hurts small businesses
But no shoes, no shirt, no service is quite common.
keysdev··on Radium Music Editor
Why are you downvoted? I like how we can find past thread about the same topic
keysdev··on Show HN: Jukebox – Free, Open Source Group Playlist with Fair Queueing
Seems like your project is using YouTube API to get the songs. Would be good to make that just a plugin then one cam swap for spotify bandcamp etc while data still stays local.

Dont want a nice open source project to just turn into a front end for youtube.

keysdev··on Why I left my tech job to work on chronic pain
I highly recommend look at Susan Luschas web site. [1] She is also a former tech person who is doing deep dive into debugging health. Much chronic pain maybe dental and organ related.

keysdev··on Postcard is now open source
And just remember the more HAM you send out to different domains and not SPAM, the better the IP gets overtime. And then BAM you got your own little self hosted poormans mailchimp.
keysdev··on Encoding Jake Gyllenhaal into one million checkboxes (2024)
Ah I thought I was gonna see the sexy Gyllenhaal in checkboxes. Is there a public page of that?
keysdev··on Encoding Jake Gyllenhaal into one million checkboxes (2024)
Is there a demo or git of the page?
keysdev··on Poor Man's Back End-as-a-Service (BaaS), Similar to Firebase/Supabase/Pocketbase
Syncthing pls. Pls try to use open source alternative whenever possible even though they are not as developed as the closed sourced one, it works better for the public.
keysdev··on Postcard is now open source
Would be nice to have just send using sendmail or what ever smtp server we chose. This is HN, and some of us have already done ip warming and to avoid any big players, as they all drop/block emails without telling their users and are not be trusted for reliable communication.
keysdev··on Brave creates new TLD on the blockchain
Well not if the real web is centralized around a few root zone servers.

TLD is broken, I can see BAT has put a bas taste in our mouth.

Checkout handshake.org its similar to this, but just code

Recently used DDG browser it just cant get some sites to clear! Try the flame button. But still logged in after few browser data clearing.

Qubes OS seems more and more attractive.

keysdev··on c4wa – C compiler for Web Assembly
> It's really, really difficult to recognize out original logic here. Among other things, whereas our original C code only has 2 local variables, this version has 29, not counting module-level globals.

Isnt that quite common now with machine generated code. Look at nim clientside js, I dear any js dev to try to navigate that.

The point is should we just trust the machine generated as it is and hope that the compiler/bundler just did a correct job, or just write clean and simple code

keysdev··on I deleted my second brain
I recently recovered about 3TB of data from over 15 years ago. It was just on a hard drive with a friend that we thought was lost. I dont really miss the data, but oh it was nice to see some old photos and notes!!

So what I recoomend is put on a hd and hide it some where. Go check it in 15 years

keysdev··on Learn OCaml
OCaml is like nim, not many ppl knows about, but it is one those tech once over the learning curve it just gives developer an extra edge.

It is a very good alternative to memory safe language such as Rust and Swift. It is just NOT backed by big corporations. Which some might see it as a disadvantage, IMHO it is an advantage. Look at Perl, Linux, Hono all initially made by one guy.

With out a big group, golden handcuffs and corporate politics, things might actually gets done.

keysdev··on Should we design for iffy internet?
Since 2013 I was in a situation where we only has edge internet for half year for 10 ppl. Ever since then I promote text web page. Not everyone has fast Internet.
