Wow there goes 45' replaying Dune 2! Thanks.
keyle··on An OpenAI model has disproved a central conjecture in discrete geometry
I think you're on point, and you've explained it very well.

As we're becoming hyper specialised, they become an invaluable tool to merge the horizon in, so to speak.

keyle··on Everything in C is undefined behavior
Yeah, npm, all the yaml state machines, & now MCP Gemini --yolo entered the chat.

If you think C is the problem, you'll come to the eventual conclusion that humans are the problems, and greed. Don't hate the player, hate the game etc.

C was invented so you don't have to write assembly. It wasn't invented to expose devices to billions of other devices.

keyle··on Everything in C is undefined behavior
When talking UB, putting C and C++ in the same basket is basically like comparing drunk driving a car and riding a bicycle sober... Both means of transport, very different experience.

Computers used to be cool; now they're dangerous.

Every company keep harping on about safety and being exposed (being in the news): so the narrative against 'unsafe' is up the wazoo.

The new world is basically a bunch of city dwellers who haven't seen raw nature and you show them a lawn mower, they freak out. Blades that spin?!?!?! Madness!!

keyle··on OpenAI Adopts Google's SynthID Watermark for AI Images with Verification Tool
Is it like metadata in mp3?

If I take a screenshot of an AI image, will that then be seen as an AI image? Is that 'hidden in the image' or as metadata?

keyle··on GitHub is investigating unauthorized access to their internal repositories
This is bad. If they came out announcing this, without a long winded explanation and further details, it's because they're staring at a bottomless pit and they haven't put the lid on it yet.

For a Fortune 100, to go out of your way to spook investors is the least desirable approach.

The only way to 'harden your github actions' is to not use github actions.
keyle··on OpenBSD 7.9
I've just setup a new ThinkPad with openbsd. You just need to put the firmware needed on a usb stick, mount it and run one command, fw_update -p ./ It wasn't hard.
keyle··on Codex-maxxing
No I do use them, for specific, targetted jobs, with 'well' defined specs.
keyle··on Project Glasswing: what Mythos showed us
It reads like long winded version of paid advertising.

Why would I want OpenAI to gobble up my brain dumps?
keyle··on Futhark by example (2020)
Interesting, what do use it for if you can share?
keyle··on I Bought a “Junk” PSP From Japan
I love my PSP but even with a new battery... it dies after 24hrs off ... not sure why.
keyle··on Additive Blending on the Nintendo 64
Interesting so the N64 had a more flexible color blending process, and in doing that no clamping.

So the 'good explosions' were possible on N64 if you did the blending+clamp by hand?

keyle··on Erlang/OTP 29.0

Right in time for the Rust rewrite! /s
keyle··on A few words on DS4
Interesting there were news last week or so of apple removing Mac minis options.
keyle··on A few words on DS4
If only you could still buy Mac's with that much RAM

I'm not sure I follow, you develop code on a remote machine by speaking to your phone and are unimpressed by the result?
keyle··on The vi family
update: vim-classics, it's faster. Particularly launching external stuff like fzf and rg.
keyle··on Rewrite Bun in Rust has been merged
Won't touch it with a ten foot pole.

keyle··on Leaving GitHub for Forgejo
Fair enough for the formers.

Issue tracking though...

keyle··on Leaving GitHub for Forgejo
For self hosting... and personal code repo, why not just git... and expose something like Stagit for the web?
keyle··on The vi family
I didn't know about vim-classic, I've switched to it now. I can't really notice much of a difference except themes are missing... and fzf needed a fix.
keyle··on Googlebook
Please refrain from making claims like "absolute insanity" without backing it with some sort of commentary on the claim. It really isn't worthy of HN.

keyle··on How to make your text look futuristic (2016)

We want it to look like the text is stretching towards 2020
Sigh, if only :|

Who knew back then that we'd go from less design to no design at all produced by machines.
