kevinyun··on Launch HN: Point (YC W19) – First Debit Card with Points
This is pretty sweet! Looks like it checks all the boxes of what I currently have spread across multiple accounts and apps:

* Savings (want sitting cash to make market-competitive interest) * Checkings with no monthly fee * Budgeting analysis (if you can integrate with other Banks via Plaid or something that would kill 5 birds in one stone) * No international fees * Dining/travel points

## Questions:

* Do dining/travel 2x points apply internationally? And any chance this can become 3x? * 30k ATMs... compared to Schwab, who credit all ATM fees, how reasonable is Point to work overseas in the same manner?) * How fast (business days) do transfers take? * When is launch? * Mobile Apps --> do you support Android?

Great job, I think there's definitely something here.

kevinyun··on Farewell from Waffle
Glad to see this as the first comment. Was curious what waffle was, so I spent five minutes googling around and going to cache:waffle.io
kevinyun··on Meth and murder: New kind of drug war makes Tijuana one of deadliest cities
But isn't that like saying Chicago is one of the deadliest cities in America, but it still shows up on tourist recommendations? As a Chicago native, it is dangerous, but only if you go way deep into the wrong area, which you would have to do on purpose -- everywhere else is pretty safe in general
kevinyun··on Alphabet Announces Fourth Quarter and Fiscal Year 2018 Results
The Comcast part made me laugh. But yes, sadly even in my experiences, Comcast has better customer support than Google.
kevinyun··on Show HN: Open startups with their revenue, metrics, and stories
That's a very interesting insight. I'd love some verification, but with the openness of all these numbers, it seems very plausible. If 20% is truly from a single customer, that seems very fragile, no?
kevinyun··on Ask HN: How do you motivate yourself to keep working on a project?
Not to sound depressing, but as I read this comment's first paragraph, a negative perspective was my initial thought, and not the positive aspect.

It's worth noting that a "YOLO" attitude can be used as a double-edged sword for motivation (e.g, "One day I will be dead, so there's no point in vying for success")

kevinyun··on Slack Plans to Follow Spotify on Unconventional IPO Route
Is point #1 necessarily true? (Asking upwards, not down)

I would imagine that most companies that are gearing up for IPO feel well-known to the tech community, but are mostly unknown to the outside world.

For example, with Slack, if I asked my non-tech friends, most would would have no idea what that is.

kevinyun··on Ask HN: What are the best banking offers for startups today?
I'm about to set up a C-Corp using Stripe Atlas, and they push for SVB (or Azlo, for LLCs). Being bootstrapped and not seeking funding for a while, is there any reason we shouldn't go with Azlo? Azlo appears to market their product to freelancers/etc
kevinyun··on Show HN: WriteFreely – minimalist, federated blogging platform
Glad someone pointed this out. I had to Google it, then urban dictionary, then back to Google with an “open source” appended to the query, only after happening upon these comments. So far, I think it means “decentralized”
kevinyun··on Show HN: Octal, a Hacker News client for iOS
I've been using this app as my HN client since I've had my iPhone. Great work!
kevinyun··on Compare career levels across companies
I remember seeing this site being posted by an indie hacker / startup guy(s?). The interface feels very familiar. Was this acquired by Triplebyte? Did Triplebyte acquire levels.io?
kevinyun··on Twilio to Acquire Sendgrid
is deliverability purely based on the email server, or is it a combination between your domain/etc? I always wondered if it was YMMV for everyone saying different things about the different EMS out there (SendGrid, Mailgun, etc)
kevinyun··on Show HN: App Academy Open – Free Online Coding Bootcamp
This is pretty sweet, and cool to see how far AppAcademy has come.

Open sourcing curriculum was always something I wanted to do with designation.io, so kudos for executing! The value is definitely not in the learning material (everything is Google-eable) -- the in-person help/mentoring is what you pay for in a bootcamp.

kevinyun··on Show HN: A tool to explore 100+ coworking retreats
Nice work, finding a lot of links/organizations I wouldn't have found otherwise.

I understand that a lot of these guys are for-profit companies trying to make it, but are there any organizations that self-organize in the spirit of digital nomads?

kevinyun··on Show HN: FlightList – Find cheap, one-way flights within a departure date range
Cool, just added to Pushbullet to check this out later.

Curious, there are other services that also have search functionality within a date range. When someone creates these flight checker apps, what is unique to each one? Aren’t there only a limited amount of flight data at any given time?

kevinyun··on Sonder Raises $135M to Turn Airbnb Apartments into Hotels
This might be a far shot, but any landlords here who have leased to Sonder? I read through their About Page and Lease page but still am not clear on exactly what they look for, or what the catch is.

Also, crazy how under the radar they have been, really curious to see how they built up traction over these years without any mainstream buzz

kevinyun··on Show HN: Legal Marketplace for Startups
Awesome, been looking for something like this. Will try it out!
kevinyun··on Show HN: Generate your og:images automatically
This is awesome. I have had the problem that og-image/meta tags are such a hassle (not hard, but just a hassle) -- and was really putting together an idea of making it easier (also supporting SERP previews) and via a JS script. It would use a dashboard so that you didn't have to update the code. But this is definitely one step closer to never having to worry about og-meta tags again :)

Question: I scanned through the landing page but didn't really see any examples of the watermark. Is every og-preview image watermarked?

kevinyun··on Twitter Will Show Who Pays for Ads and How Much They Spend
Is this factual truth that advertisers can pay to be on the front page Moments? If so I am surprised, and would have expected at a minimum Sponsored disclosure like they do with paid tweets
kevinyun··on Show HN: Finding insider stock transactions in real time.
Cool, thanks for the example. Again, apologies as a layperson/everyday investor -- Can you explain what 'D - Disposition to the issuer of issuer equity securities' means, and how that is different from something like 'S - Open Market Sale'?

If the Waltons dumped $120m in common stock, is that significant to the market? How so?

Just trying to tie that in with how a retail investor would go about this.

kevinyun··on Show HN: Tty-share ** share your terminal in the browser, over the Internet
+1 to the hard screen reading

Awesome, I didn't know that the other person could interact with it -- as in one person's terminal is now a shared browser tab that can have commands entered in? If so, that is really cool and I will check it out further.

Edit: I just viewed the gif again, this time a little longer, and this is really cool!

kevinyun··on Show HN: Tty-share ** share your terminal in the browser, over the Internet
This seems pretty interesting. What would be the use-cases? I can't imagine that it would be a good fit for real-time (a screenshare app like Hangouts or Skype solves that) -- perhaps server logs in a browser tab?
kevinyun··on Show HN: Finding insider stock transactions in real time.
Very cool, and interesting! As a retail investor / layman, can you explain the benefits or workflow? (legalities, how to go about this, use cases)

From a high-level, I understand that this is just public data in a nice UI that you get a day earlier. What happens if this gets really popular -- will there be a gate/fee?

kevinyun··on [dead]
Awesome, as someone who goes on ProductHunt everyday and who has at least 7+ prospecting tools bookmarked, this pitch really strikes a chord with me on a pricing level!

How does it work, and how do you source the verified leads? The landing page seems a bit sparse

kevinyun··on Buy, sell, send and receive Bitcoin Cash on Coinbase
Wow, this is great -- thank you so much for sharing!
kevinyun··on Show HN: Read My Book Notes
This is a great idea! Would love a contribution feature, as I have some annotated notes from some books I highly regard
kevinyun··on Buy, sell, send and receive Bitcoin Cash on Coinbase
The biggest concern in my head is not the prices of cryptos, but how much of a headache it will be to calculate taxes at year-end
kevinyun··on Launch HN: FloydHub (YC W17) – Heroku for Deep Learning
Thanks Sai, this looks great. I found myself dreading the clunky workflow with AWS GPUs, even using CLI, so this is nice to see a Heroku-like product that's a bit easier to work with.

Also, awesome 100 hours offering -- Looking forward to using FloydHub for deep learning!

kevinyun··on Show HN: An easier way to create and parse Unix Timestamps
This is awesome. Best timestamp converter tool I've come across, and I've been using other websites that we're confusing but we're the top-ranked tools. Bookmarked for future usage. Nice job OP!
kevinyun··on Show HN: Styletron – Virtual CSS
Am I having a hard time understanding this CSS in JS concept, and therefore Styletron, if I've never worked with React before? Let's say at a basic level, I have compiled stylesheets -- could you explain in simple web developer layman's terms how this could be implemented, knowing the benefit of reduced file size and increased performance is what were aiming for?
