But unfortunately for now it seems there aren't any viable self-hosted options...
What if I started my own server, just for me to manage my own data? What would "local timeline" look like then?
* generate false surveillance footage of someone innocent stealing something just to give him a bad press
* generate porn video starring any person on a planet
* spread disinformation on a mass scale
Are we really, as a society, prepared for that? Too many people still believe everything they see on Internet, even before inventing generative networks.
Is it what tech companies really have in mind restricting access to their models? I don't think so, that just don't want competitors to take advantage of their work. But that doesn't change the fact that we should gradually prepare non-tech people of what's to come in the near future.
A lie that is repeated a thousand times becomes truth. We are not talking about one out of place, weird news that would appear once on someone's newsfeed. We are talking about mass flooding.

It's 2022, no one is verifying sources
That's what Bezos did with its Blue Origin. If you check where is Blue Origin in space race, you'll quickly realize it's not enough
Edit: ah, and is space still expensive? If one of universities in my middle-sized country with no space engineering background could afford to launch cubesat via SpaceX, then yes, I think it became cheap.
You needed to have tools, skill, resources and time to do such things. You don't need to have that anymore. Anyone can do anything on any scale.
It's something what SpaceX did. Ofc it was possible to launch a rocket before SpaceX, but few really could afford that. Now that prices are low, that opens infinite number of new space exploration possibilities.
Edit: I mean: it's one of the very few websites that actually provides sources of information. It's insane it's that rare these days. And most important facts are just placed in visible and easy to spot place, no need to dig through author's life story, thanks for subscribers etc. before getting to the point.
Are there any other possible use cases of this language other then image or maybe in-game world generation? Do you consider it just as an interesting academic problem or do you plan to use it somewhere?
But it may also be, that it's just because it works on Linux. I develop mostly for Linux servers and use Linux tools that obviously integrate better with Linux-based OS than on Windows. There is WSL, but still, experience is not that fluent.
A year ago I needed to quickly do something related to Xamarin and as far as I remember I actually had to move to Windows for some reason, but that was the only time. I'm not even sure if it was related to inability to run stuff or it was just too much tinkering to launch that single thing.
The mere fact that the platform belongs to him can help a lot
