I learned using the TICK stack and Grafana.

Originally I wanted to see some Covid data with my own visualization, was thinking on D3 first.

Ended up with full TICK stack and Grafana, monitoring all devices I have at home and setting up alerts for all kind of silly stuff. Usefulness is questionable, but I learned a lot.

I have now some insight in the local area covid spread and happy to report, no new cases in my town discovered since a month \o/ (according to the government provided API)

What task moved yesterday? (handover?) What task is going to move today?

and the most important one: What is blocked? (Who can help to unblock?)

I can recommend this format for everybody.

I started something like this 4 months ago:

- I only removed social media

- and turned off every notification, leaving badges for company email.

This made already a huge difference. Some of the points are also not relevant for me (never had games or so...)

I guess it's not just game developers, I work with my team in finance sector on a customer portal and we also get almost similar level of feedback from some people... But we have millions of users. I like to think that at this scale we can't avoid to have some of those guys.

I work as a developer in enterprise environment since 4 years. So far I didn't encounter any of the above issues. However we have a set of other issues mostly connected to maintainability of a code base or refactoring of legacy code. I would love to see a set of interview questions that target our issues too.

(Our best approach so far was to test people with the gilded rose kata and see how they manage the problem without reimplementing it from scratch)

I use Waze daily to get to work and get back to home. Europe is full with speed traps and total unexpected speed limits. For me Waze is a must have app every time I go somewhere with the car.

I can't say I would ditch my iPhone just because of this (or maybe I would?), but I might get an android phone just to use it with Waze in my car if this really works great...

Apple CarPlay is total useless so far, even to play music from my iPhone in the car, I rather use the built in media app from VW. Apple maps in Europe is a total joke. Many times it tells me I should drive into a one way street or it would try to take me into pedestrian zones...
