kd3··on Being a good guy boss left me £1.2m in debt
I don't think replacing individual business that might rob people with one gigantic one that does rob people is an improvement. As for alternatives, check this free ebook: https://www.dropbox.com/s/yd18waixbva1jae/WhatAnarchyIsnt-FR...
kd3··on Open Letter to the Linux Foundation
I like the open and public way of handling such matters. You won't have much transparency in private and that is dangerous. However, i am against their decision. All these "community guidelines" and "code of conduct" bullshit just get abused to attack and censor people.
kd3··on AMD Q4:16-core Ryzen 9 3950X, Threadripper Up To 32-Core 3970X
Can't wait for the 3950x. Hope launch supplies are adequate.
kd3··on Man Underpaid Property Tax by $8.41 County Seized Home, Sold It-Kept Profits
When you have to pay fees to be able to hold on to your property, it's not your property. You're paying the government mafia for the privilege to hold on to what they view as their property. It is extortion and ultimately robbery as in this case.
kd3··on Tech and Liberty
This discussion is pointless. All these social media platforms can do whatever they like on their platform. If you really care about freedom of speech and no censorship, build it into your technology from the ground up so that it is impossible for anyone to censor anything, and that freedom is guaranteed because it is a fundamental property and requirement of the system.
kd3··on Electron apps cannot be submitted to the Apple store
Microsofts failure in mobile has simply been due to the fact that they weren't able to excite users with hardware. This changed with the Surface line.
kd3··on Edge Chromium Release on January 2020
I like the new logo a lot. But i very much dislike the fact that they seriously crippled the pdf and ebook functionality in the new browser. Especially since they also killed the old pdf Reader app and forced people to use the old Edge browser instead as their ebook and pdf reader.
kd3··on Designing the Facebook Company Brand
I'm all for this kind of FB branding on all of their apps. Will be easy to know what not to use. Google should do the same.
kd3··on Electron apps cannot be submitted to the Apple store
> Have you read Raymond Chen’s blog about all of the obscure one off hacks Microsoft has had to add to keep misbehaving apps from breaking?

That is precisely why I mentioned Microsoft. They have historically gone through great lengths to keep devs happy.

kd3··on Electron apps cannot be submitted to the Apple store
This is absolutely insane. Apple could learn a lot from Microsoft of how to treat developers. God i miss Steve Ballmer
kd3··on The HPV vaccine is as important for boys as it is for girls
Does it work? How many trials have they done? Like actually following people for 40 years to check the effects.
kd3··on The HPV vaccine is as important for boys as it is for girls
From what I saw their poison isn't guaranteed to prevent the cancer. On the contrary... So rest assured their income from throat cancer will remain safe.
kd3··on The Feds are building an America-wide face surveillance system and ACLU is suing
Not necessarily a utopia. It could work; if you want an explanation of how check out the following book: https://www.dropbox.com/s/yd18waixbva1jae/WhatAnarchyIsnt-FR...
kd3··on Google are removing URLs entirely from search results?
Thanks!
kd3··on Google are removing URLs entirely from search results?
Anyone know of a good replacement for Google recaptcha?
kd3··on Some Employees Chafe as Google’s New Internal Rules Take Hold
My definition of censorship is suppression of any kind of speech.
kd3··on Some Employees Chafe as Google’s New Internal Rules Take Hold
So now the censorship they have on Youtube is basically taken internally. Maybe now they'll see from experience what the consequences are of censorship.
kd3··on In Defense of Comic Sans
All laws made by government should use this typeface.
kd3··on The Feds are building an America-wide face surveillance system and ACLU is suing
The best government is no government.
kd3··on The Feds are building an America-wide face surveillance system and ACLU is suing
We're going to need the scramble suits from A Scanner Darkly.
kd3··on NSO hacked WhatsApp to spy on top government officials at U.S. allies
Yep especially US "aid".
kd3··on Spanish government orders GitHub to take down Tsunami Democràtic repository
We are fortunate enough to be given another example of the dangers of centralized cloud computing. It is extremely risky to use services like Github. We saw the same thing recently with Adobe blocking Venezuela.
kd3··on Epstein's injuries look more like murder than suicide, noted pathologist says
To understand how things work at Epstein levels of elite, look up and watch the interviews with whistle-blower Ronald Bernard by Cooperatie de Vrije Media. Be sure to watch the first two interviews in full.
kd3··on WhatsApp sues NSO Group for allegedly helping spies hack phones around the world
I tend to agree with op. Surely the NSO has blame but the real problem is the hole in WhatsApp and the fact that their security could use serious improvement. They even allow making backups of the unencrypted database to the cloud defeating the whole e2e encryption.
kd3··on WhatsApp sues NSO Group for allegedly helping spies hack phones around the world
Woooow. Im almost speechless. Unprecedented indeed. I never would have expected this from zuckerberg.
kd3··on China Adopts Law on Cryptography
> According to the provisions, the country encourages the research, academic exchanges, conversion of academic achievements and application of the technologies of commercial cryptography, but the scientific research, production, sales, service and import and export of it must not harm the state security and public interests or other people's rights and interests.

> Moreover, those who sell or provide commercial cryptography products and services that are not examined or authenticated or fail either procedure will also be warned, fined or have their illicit gains confiscated.

Good times ahead. I'm going to be a criminal very soon.

kd3··on The Sad Saga of Purism and the Librem 5
Sounds like a serious case of Elon Musk time and planning (missing deadlines, bad time estimates etc.). A small company like Purism delivering an ambitious first time project like the Librem 5 phone on time would be nothing short of a miracle. The clouds would have parted and jesus himself would have come down to congratulate them. I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and have some more patience.
kd3··on Scientists discover fractal patterns in a quantum material
The whole universe is fractal. Like a hologram. You do the math.
kd3··on $2 Test Identified Bird Shit as Cocaine. Cops Keep Using It to Arrest People
To understand why cops get away with this crap look up the origin of the police AKA slave patrol.
kd3··on Microsoft Wins Pentagon’s $10B Contract
Unfortunately in that regard there is little to no choice. This is why I continue to advocate building a truly peer 2 peer network with all services relying on that infrastructure instead of centralized systems in the hands of a few companies. Everything running and stored on that P2P network. It's coming but taking longer than I'd hope for.
