And Ethereum's state store. Which is an even more serious "database".

Alphonso inc. develops the tech https://lgads.tv/site-privacy-policy/. Looked into the LinkedIn of some of the employees and it looks like a huge operation.
kamikazechaser··on The race to replace Redis
SSPL that is now adopted by Redis >7.4.2 is a fork of AGPL and adds one more extra clause that makes it more difficult to run any competing product.

A friend of mine wrote a similar tool. https://github.com/nolash/piknik.
kamikazechaser··on Comparing K3s with vanilla Kubernetes
Title is misleading. k3s is a deployment stack/distribution that builds off various Kubernetes modules. It must pass a certain test suite to conform to Kubernetes standards.

What you might be trying to compare is kubeadm which is the official deployment stack provided by Kubernetes.

kamikazechaser··on GitHub slashes engineering team in India
There is no SDE2 in India making 82 LPA.

The correct band for India should be around:

SDE1 - 30k

SDE2 - 40K - 45K

SDE3 - 50k - 70K

kamikazechaser··on Learn Vim (2021)
Low 50 if we go by the video.

He might obviously be in the 80+ range irl.

kamikazechaser··on Upwork just stole $10k from me
They did that to me when I was fresh out of high school . Did some js/html fixes for a few days for some guy and got $200. A few weeks later, original hirer charges back Upwork (I contacted him and he told me it was a different work that wasn't delivered by the other person). Upwork goes into damage control and sweeps my entire balance and tells me it is part of their policy. They claimed they would return it if they won the charge back claim.

Never went back.

kamikazechaser··on Show HN: Socketify.py: Http/Https and WebSockets servers for PyPy3 and Python3
When can we see a fortunes benchmark or one with any popular python sql driver?

.NET were gaming their techempower benchmarks to advertise they were blazingly fast. Turns out, not so fast with real-world code.

kamikazechaser··on Hetzner continues its growth in the US with a new location
Overall it is a good provider. Performance/cost ratio is better than linode/DO/Scaleway by a huge margin. That being said, its anti-abuse is super strict. Any heavy p2p networking usually triggers their anti-ban e.g. IPFS. They have a 0 crypto policy that includes making a HTTP(s) call to any external crypto API. I find this a very weird TOS enforcement tbh. Not an issue, but a general observation is that their block ranges are more aggressively scanned by bots.
kamikazechaser··on Olric: Distributed, embeddable data structures in Go
Can run as both embedded and server mode. Essentially a re-imagined redis from a general point of view.
kamikazechaser··on Forgejo – Launching a Fork of Gitea
> From this post it seems that codeberg has an authoritarian vibe to the point where you can produce “wrong code”;

This aged well. One of the mods has already threatened to ban someone who literally did nothing wrong.

kamikazechaser··on SourceHut terms of service updates, cryptocurrency projects to be removed

kamikazechaser··on SourceHut terms of service updates, cryptocurrency projects to be removed
> this change generally undermines their trust in SourceHut

It does. What are you going for next? Gambling software? Piracy software? Redsec tools?

Understandable to ban crypto specific software that enable scamming (and general scamming software). But to generalize an entire ecosystem?

kamikazechaser··on SourceHut terms of service updates, cryptocurrency projects to be removed
Terrorists cause far more physical harm than all of crypto will ever do. Do we ban Signal and Telegram repos so that we can "protect the people"?

Drew has the absolute right to ban crypto from his platform, but it is a piss take to try and justify it as being a societal harm.
