To contact me: my email is armhold at gmail com. Please mention HN if you do (too much recruiter spam, but HN contacts always welcome.)
"if the preceding substring was dot space, and the user types another space, just ignore it".
Hope that works for you.
I will add some keyboard navigation as you suggested.
Thanks very much for the feedback.
In the very near future I am planning to add some kind of hands/fingers graphic, with the appropriate digit indicated in some way. That might cover your other suggestion about a predefined color.
Thanks for the feedback!
Thanks for the heads-up.
I'm planning to offer a config option that allows you to specify whether you prefer single or double spaces. Not sure which is the best default to offer for visitors though.
Thanks for your feedback!
By "more stats", do you mean the accuracy statistic that is computed for each practice? Or do you mean the wpm/accuracy chart that you see on the Progress link?
Currently all of the lesson content is locked down (if you've created an account using the HN signup code, then you get to see it all, such as it is).
I've gotten lots of feedback to the effect that $29 is too high for a webapp, so I certainly will revise that down before launching.
Thanks for the feedback!
Thanks for the feedback!
Quick Brown Frog: a 100% in-browser, non-Flash, non-Java typing tutor.
It's an HTML5 typing tutor that I'm working on. Also planning to sell the tools I use to build it as a jump-starter API for folks wishing to create GWT/App Engine products:
Create-A-Password: http://create-a-password.appspot.com -- an app for creating memorable (yet secure) passwords
Both created with GWT and Google App Engine.
Uh?
Are you using http://code.google.com/p/google-web-toolkit-incubator/wiki/G... ? I'm eager for that to become part of standard GWT.
There may be better options now.
That means that he doesn't understand "package" level access. There is no "package" keyword (well, there is, but it means something else). To get package-private access you have to leave it unspecified, so that means he can't use this feature. Or grok it when he comes across it.
The lack of a keyword for this is a shortcoming in Java, IMHO. But even if you don't use it often, you should have an inkling of how it works.

My sites (all appspot apps) do appear to be indexed by google, and usually show up on the 1st or 2nd page of Google results (even after clearing my Google web history).
Thanks!
edit: to answer my own question: install the google toolbar.
It's been great for me. I love how quickly I can bootstrap new ideas, put up a prototype, and then just hand out the URL for to people to try.
A couple of recent apps:
http://create-a-password.appspot.com http://slimpoints.appspot.com http://mealminder.appspot.com
That last one was mostly a proof-of-concept in using Google's account and payment infrastructure. Really handy if you decide that you'll want your customers to pay you some day.
I guess the biggest hurdle is getting used to the Datastore, which is not really intuitive if all you're used to is SQL. Overall, a very positive experience for me.
