Finished my first level 5 today! I like the format of having this as a daily puzzle. If I went back through the archives I'd probably burn out on it pretty quick. Once again, nice work and thanks for sharing.
I feel like there might be a green/yellow/red situation here, where red indicates inconsistency with marked information, while yellow indicates "not satisfied YET, but could be with marked information"
If Q1 is "the answer to Q2" and I mark A:A, Q1 should be red if A is crossed off for Q2, yellow if A is still an option for Q2, and green if A is the chosen option for Q2.
These are really fun, thanks for posting this. Only weirdness I've seen is that I got a red bar for selecting a correct answer on one question because I had not yet selected the correct answer for the question it was about, which threw me off briefly. Working on level 3 now.
I'm with you. I feel like having automated tools - even though they aren't certified - would be an improvement over doing it all manually in both time and reliability.
I've been doing this since Jan 1, sometimes called OMAD for One Meal A Day. I had already been skipping breakfast, so lunch is now a cup of tea or diet soda.
Maybe it's just the excitement of a new diet plan, but it's helped me lose 25 pounds so far this year, on track for 35 total before I re-evaluate. I just don't seem to have the willpower to only snack in moderation, but limiting myself to an hour a day is working. I can still have that dessert I'm looking forward to, it just has a specific timeframe now. Do I feel hungry sometimes? Yes, but I need some practice being hungry after years of stuffing my face whenever I felt like it.
Same... can't read anything if I can hear someone talking, even if I don't want to listen to them. Music and noise-cancelling headphones make it all better. I can't understand anything if more than one person is talking at the same volume. Maybe that's just normal and I'm bad at lip reading, though.
As far as anecdata, I've worn noise-cancelling headphones at least 40 hours a week for the past 18 years. Granted, my formative years pre-date noise cancellation, but I haven't noticed any impact to my hearing or audio processing. Pretty sure I'd be listening to music much louder without noise cancellation.
Hand scan doesn't work for me in Chrome on Windows (waiting for first frame), but it did load on Edge. Stuck in the hand poses. What does this mean: "Stretch out your hands, point your fingertips towards each other, and rotate your palms downwards." I tried everything I could think of, but it won't advance.
For those of a Windows persuasion, PingoMeter is indispensable: https://github.com/EFLFE/PingoMeter Ping one host periodically, display RTT in a bar graph in the system tray with optional alerts. You'll never have to type "ping 8.8.8.8" again.
I have one bound to an AutoHotKey script that switches to Teams and mutes/unmutes my mic, since Teams doesn't have a global mute hotkey. I used the others while filming to switch OBS scenes/camera layouts. I'll probably set them up as app launch hotkeys now.
I just finished a 4-part video series on designing and building a custom 4x4 keyboard - no prior knowledge needed other than basic soldering skills. It goes through the details of designing the PCB in KiCad, getting it fabricated (and even assembled if you like), designing the case parts in OnShape, getting them fabricated or 3D printed, and finally building and flashing the VIAL firmware to run it all. My goal is to make this an approachable project for the adventurous newbie. Enjoy!
This is exactly what I do. I believe you have to click "set up for work or school" first before you get the domain join option, but it works fine for creating a local administrator account.
I did this unintentionally in college once by switching the keyboard layout to Dvorak, which for some reason persisted across logins. I came back later that day to the same lab and the station I had been using was marked "Out of Order". Huh, that's weird. Sat down at the station next to it. Next day both of them were marked "Out of Order". Oh, huh. Is there something weird with the keyboard? I might know what happened...
Kind of the opposite... I enjoyed hobby programming in high school, but my only experience with it as a career was seeing what my dad did as a programmer in a large company. Too many meetings and architecture review boards for my taste, so I was looking for something else in college. Then I discovered what it's like building tools for researchers and realized I could enjoy programming for a living, and that it all depends on the team size (small!) and the context.
I had to re-learn the B and the 6 when I moved to a split keyboard, but it was totally worth it. Just plan to spend some time in typing drills/tests and you'll get the hang of it soon enough. It really is amazing what you can adapt to.
I found this out for myself as a kid by taking a 2600 joystick apart to figure out how to wire it to my LEGO Mindstorms kit. By carefully choosing resistor values for the four cardinal directions, I could read 8 unique resistance values out for the cardinal and diagonal directions at a single analog I/O port on the RCX brick for control. It was a huge boon to me that it used simple contact closures and not a digital serial protocol!
I've typed Dvorak for years on staggered rows, and retained my ability to switch back to Qwerty at ~70% of the speed. I just switched to staggered column 58-key Dvorak though, and I have noticed it takes me a minute to go back to staggered row on my laptop keyboard in either layout. I think it has more to do with the key positions than the layout.
Had to have a Voodoo to stay competitive in QuakeWorld by seeing people hiding in the water. The peasants with software rendering had opaque water textures. My Voodoo card eventually developed a texture-memory corruption bug that would result in brightly-colored speckles appearing on Quake's dingy industrial textures, turning it into more of a Candyland world. Good times.
Has anyone run into Plaid doing the same thing? Someone tried to pay me using Zelle the other day, and it requires entering my bank login information in order to receive a payment. No thanks. What was wrong with EBT?
Per the geekwire article linked above, one of the local Mazda dealerships blamed 5G for causing the issue. Apparently that's the popular thing to do these days.
Tangentially related, an old ham radio operator related his advice for putting up an antenna on your house: "Put the antenna up, but don't connect it to anything for a few weeks. Don't even run the cable yet. When people complain about it making their fillings vibrate or garage door open or whatever, you can show them that it isn't even connected to anything. This helps filter out the people who have nothing better to do than to complain."
We got a Sodastream for Christmas along with a SodaMod kit which comes with three food-grade tanks with paintball fill valves. That way you can fill them at a sporting goods store for $5 instead of exchanging them for $15. Related to the article, there's something very strange about the Sodastream Diet Cola that I haven't quite put my finger on. I prefer to add some lime juice to mask the flavor.
