up until 1900, 98% of people worked on farms in rural areas. IMHO it's a bit pretencious to force rural folk to move to the big cities and become Urbanite Consumers. and it is reckless to think changing the way most people have lived for 100,000 years wont trigger an even worse catastrophe.

rural folk think the same way of Urbanites as you think of them. they think everyone should get out of the cities and stop being a polluting leech who is detached from the natural state of humans living in equillibrium with nature.

why has it become normalized to accept iPhones and Android as locked down computers where we are all rental peasants whove sworn fealty to our Feif Lords?

the computing culture from the PC era (1990's-2006) has been utterly destroyed. a computer used to be a thing you owned and which you therefore controlled like any physical property. install any software you want. you own it, so you dont have to keep plugging quarters into it like an arcade game. but not the phone. even though a cheap phone is a supercomputer compared to a high end gaming PC from 20 years ago.

everything Richard Stallman predicted 40 years ago about the worst case scenario outcome of propietary software has come true. the computing revolution was originally about empowering the user. information wants to be FREE. slowly we lost that, and now everything is about how much money can our corporate overlords squeeze out of us.

there are too many students chasing to few colleges. there should be 20 Yales, 30 Harvards and 50 MITs. just like there should be 10 Microsofts, 20 Googles and 50 Apples. if competition for credentials wasnt so pirate cut throat due to induced artifical scarcity, then society wouldnt be nitpicking over admissions quota minutia.

imagine a world where we cut the Pentagon's budget by 15%, and poured that $150 billion into turning every Community College into a University on par with Yale and the Ivys. imagine a world where unemployable grad students were not ground up and churned out through a system that only has teaching jobs for a fraction of them.

the solution to all higher education problems is to radically increase the supply to meet the demand.

there is proof that NSA has been mass hacking WiFi since at least 2005. that batch of Snowden leaks came out one week after the Shadowbroker's first leak.

NSA programs SECONDDATE and BADDECISION were used to mass hack into WiFi routers in Iraq in 2005-2007. note the slides say NSA breached the WiFi routers of EVERY INTERNET CAFE IN IRAQ. that is the Collect-It-All scale we expect from NSA.

also note, NSA did this FROM THE SKY! SECONDDATE is a sensor installed in Cessna and low flying planes. NSA flew over every WiFi hotspot of every Internet cafe in Iraq and deployed the BADDECISION exploit to install implants on the WiFi routers to then mass surveil everyone.

no futher leaks about BADDECISION have come out. we dont know if it is a protocol attack or crypto exploit. we dont know if WiFi is still vulnerable to BADDECISION.

how much do you want to bet that NSA only used SECONDDATE and BADDECISION in Iraq and NOT back here at home in America?

how much would you bet that NSA is NOT bulk hacking WiFi routers of ENTIRE US CITIES FROM THE AIR?

consider how much cheaper and easier that would be now in 2020 compared to 2005?

nice catch. that date of 1998 is a Big Fucking Deal. the Patriot Act was passed in October 2001. the narrative we have all be lead to believe is that NSA only ramped up domestic mass surveillance in 2001. but why would NSA have a protocol for exfil across passive sensor hops in 1998? passive exfil only works if you have sensors mirroring backbone traffic at all the biggest upstream meetme rooms. but NSA supposedly wasnt legally allowed to install Boeing Narus mirror routers at ISPs until 2001.

what this 1998 date means is that NSA TURMOIL--passive sensor ingest, had to exist PRIOR TO 2001.

this even screws Bill Binney's narrative that the system he designed--THINTHREAD, which he says would spy on all traffic without violating our privacy laws, was built in 1999-2000. THINTHREAD was ultimately canceled and Hayden chose STELLARWIND instead.

but this screencap show FASHIONCLEFT already existed in 1998. therefore NSA has been spying on the whole Internet for waaaay longer than the official narrative says.

i was one of those conspiracy theorists ranting on USENET about ECHELON back in 1998. turns out, we were RIGHT.

consider what info NSA has access to with it's stunning global passive adversary infrastructure. to you or me, developing exploit implants on a systematic scale targetting the firmwarw of every model of every harddrive of every vendor seems technically impossible to us outsiders.

but NSA has access to the emails, internal bug trackers and source code repos of the entire dev teams at all of those vendors. think how easy it would be to hack all firmware on an indistrial scale when you can cheat and read the blueprints?

NSA is the biggest cheater. i no longer consider them as being gods of cyberwar. rather, they merely tricked us all to believe NSA was not mass surveilling everyone, then we were blinded to the scale of what was really possible behind the curtain.

if we had the source code to the firmware of every hard drive, we could do exactly the same thing NSA did.

also, yes, do not ever trust a computer. remember the photo of David Miranda's macbook motherboard after his laptop was siezed when he was connecting to a flight in London and acting as the courier between Laura Poitras in Berlin and Greenwald in Brazil? the photo showed GCHQ melted like a dozen chip on his motherboards. when that photo came out, it was puzzling, because the Snowden leaks about NSA hacking firmwares had not yet leaked. in hindsight, now we know. NSA and FVEYs physically destroyed every chip that they could implant, out of fear that someone else could BADBIOS attack David's macbook and steal the Snowden cache.

justanotheranon··on NSA Owns Everything (2015)
i have seen this. in interviews for infosec dev roles, i would mention that i have read the entirety of the Snowden leaks, every page, as well as the TAO EQGRP source code leaked by the Shadowbrokers. I had thought mentioning this would demonstrate i am really interested in the subject of exploitation and defense and what is really going on in the invisible world of cyberwar.

but what i found out is most people conducting interviews don't want to know and they don't want to hire nor work with anyone who does want to know the big T Truth. I have been able to tell the interview conversation tone just shut down after I mention Snowden or the Shadowbrokers. All of the interviewers were ex-DoD and/or ex-Intelligence. I could tell they would not be proceeding to hire me because they got very quiet and quickly transitioned to the "let's wrap this up" phase of the conversation.

it greatly puzzled me for a long time why would the class of civillian infosec workers be affraid of the knowledge of how NSA had ran circles around them in the dark and why would these workers on the front lines of security want to NOT know how to defend themselves and their customers?

maybe ex-DoD folks are scared of Snowden, because they were always forbidden from reading Snowden leaks, since they would be violating their classification authority by learning about top secrets for which they were not cleared to know. i find that funny and scary in an Emperor's New Clothes sense, that us unwashed civillians on the streets can know more about cyberwar than DoD's own cyberwarriors, because we can study public information, while DoD indoctrinated workers have to pretend the Snowden leaks and Shadowbrokers never happened. there is probably also a factor of shame and face saving that makes DoD infosec types choose to be willingly ignorant. Snowden and the Shadowbrokers were the biggest embarassments to NSA.

imagine you are NSA. you are untouchable, you have as good as an infinite black budget and you are above all laws. you have pulled off the biggest victory in intelligence history--for 12 years after the Patriot Act, you have been hacking everyone and spying on everyone and nobody has figured it out and nobody can prove a thing. then along comes Snowden and the Shadowbrokers and your whole cover is blown. that's gotta make anyone who drink the Pentagon's kool-aid pretty personally mad. so anyone else who comes along and is blabbing about things they read in Snowden leaks will be treated like an outcast and shunned for adding insult to injury.

The only reason the Allies allowed the u-boats to continue winning small victories was to preserve the illusion that Enigma was still secure to prevent the Germans from switching to another cipher system. remember this presentation from a few years ago?

The Factoring Dead: Preparing for the Coming Cryptopocalypse.

the only reason global mass surveillance is even technically possible os because turnkey mass scale crypto exists.

if NSA and FVEYs could not conceal their own penetration and exfiltration of all the world's data, then they would not be able to do it on a scale like we saw reveales in Snowden's leaks. cryptography PROTECTS the Surveillance State MORE than it protects us Plebians. the asymmetrical advantage of weilding cryptographic supremacy is what makes NSA's regime physically possible.

all modern crypto is based on a handful of crypto primitive math algorithms. we blindly trust them to be secure because nobody yet knows how to crack them. but if some lone wolf math genius pulled an Isaac Newton and invented a solution to FACTOR and proved P=NP, then crypto as we know it would cease to exist. no more RSA, no more ECC, no more AES, no more SHA3.

this wont even require quantum computers, because it is presently unknown whether there exists a classical solution to insoluble problems like FACTOR and P=NP.

what if a classical solution does exist? what if it is found in the next 10 years?

i believe it will be found.

i agree with Snowden's sentiments. the mass surveillance state is an anomaly, a blip of time where a lack of mathematical progress was met with the rise of the global Internet, where it was convenient for NSA to use crypto as a weapon against all of us. post-cryptopocalypse, life is going to be very inconvenient for NSA and the FVEYs. the cost of hoarding secrets will become too great compared to the risk of losing those secrets due to a newly leveled cryptographic playing field. leveled in the sense that anyone can realistically attack any known ciphers.

the future of cryptography is its past. the 18th century. manually designed cryptosystems intended to have very short shelf lives, because they get cracked so frequently. only militaries and banks will have the resources to design and deploy cryptosystems. since it will be so much more expensive to deploy encryption, only truly important secrets will be encrypted at all. there will be a massive cultural shift in how our Intelligence Agencies operate. they won't even resemble themselves as they are today.

for this reason, i am a radical optimist about the fall of the mass surveillance state.

i once took 82 hits of acid. ahh, to be 17 years old and think you're invincible again. each hit was a gellcap with about 4 hits like blotter paper. this was at an outdoor rave-festival.

i was curled up in a ball in a tent for 2 days. fully immersive hallucinations. the good thing is when you are so incapacitated, you cant get up and move around to hurt yourself and others. i had sitters watching me and feeding me water.

nothing happened. i slowly returned to sober consciousness with zero bad physical side effects. except dissappointment that i had missed the entire rave.

that was the greatest spiritual experience i have ever had. none of the hallucinations were scary or negative, likely because the setting was outdoors on a rural camp ground in nature. i was talking to the Sun. and the blades of grass. and they talked back. i felt an indescribable oneness with all living beings and a realization that all life is sentient. meaning that our "human consciousness" model is just a tiny sliver of the full spectrum of "living consciousness", only we dont see the greater consciousness while we go about our daily lives trapped inside our limited minds. as an analogy, think of human consciousness like a language--C or assembly. then Universal Consciousness is like Leibnitz's mythical Perfect Language which simultaneously describes and creates our Monadic world.

decades later, that experience is still one of my happiest and i can remember it more vividly than more recent milestone events.

i understand why Steve Jobs said his first time tripping was his #2 greatest life experience.

if you ever have the opportunity to take 360 hits of acid, i recommend you go for it. you will see God and it will permanently reprogram your brain.

take ER doctors. they daily witness human trauma far worse than viewing horror show videos and images. do you ever hear about ER docs who become depressed or mentally ill from being exposed to so much horrific human suffering? Doctors have a personal sense of doing good in the world through healing. They witness so much trauma that they become so desensitized that non doctors often criticize them for seeming so detached and for treating human bodies like mechanistic processes. Just because the police keep those films as sealed evidence that are never published does NOT mean snuff films are an Urban Legend. I can see why the police always keep snuff films secret. Mira is a Starwood hotel.

i guess that ROYALCONCIERGE program didnt work too well LOL.

i now no longer fear NSA and the FVEYs the same way i did back in 2013.

NSA/FVEYs are not 1984 meets Skynet. NSA is the Cyber DMV. govt clerks punching a clock and squabbling with each other over internal turf wars. they are morons, just with a bigger budget and an invisibility cloak of TOP SECRET.

NSA/FVEYs have already crippled themselves by their spectacular success. they hacked everyone, they exfiltrated all data on Earth, but what good is it? they couldnt even find Snowden in their own hotel spy program?

i bet more sand falls through the cracks in NSA's hands than any finite number of grains they do manage to catch. there simply is no way to scale putting a human eyeball on every piece of SIGINT. the more SIGINT you collect, the more blind you become.

fun fact:

back in 2003, after Bush's President's Surveillance Program (NSA STELLARWIND) had been up and running for 2 years, hoovering up all domestic phone calls, emails and web traffic, the whole program was so secret that you could count on your hands who outside of NSA knew it was happening.

guess who was the 9th person outside of NSA and the WH who was "read into the program" and told about NSA STELLARWIND?

House Minority leader Nancy Pelosi, that's who.

guess who was the 14th person read in?

every single Democrat leader who has been in DC for their entire career LOVES mass domestic surveillance. they have known about it all along and they never once blew the whistle or tried to stop it or simply resign their jobs in silent protest. they all went along with it, "just doing my job."

from another Snowden doc which i can no longer find, it was revealed that ROYAL CONCIERGE hacked hotels owned by Starwood, one of the biggest umbrella corps owning multiple global hotel chains.

you think NSA only went after Starwood hotels? remember NSA said their "Full Spectrum Domination" posture means "Collect It All."

that is an incredible connection. thank you for sharing. im glad im not the only one who has read most of the Snowden leaks, and whenever anything new happens like a big hack or leak, i go back and search the Snowden files to see if there are any connections.

in that list of program names, i remember seeing WILDCHOCOBO and DARKTHUNDER in other Snowden files.

here is WILDCHOCOBO

https://search.edwardsnowden.com/docs/SPINALTAPMakingPassive...

page 19 of that is very very interesting. it lists around 100 NSA programs that are all part of some kind of global passive CNE implanted on hundreds of servers that provides ingest/exfil to feed back home into XKEYSCORE.

DARKTHUNDER is also on there.

the odd thing is that slidedeck is about NSA program JOLLYROGER tracking SD cards via their unique hardware volume IDs.

why would NSA TAO be hacking MSPs like Netsential at all? why is NSA spying on Fusion Centers, who get their reports from FBI, who themselves got the data to write the reports from NSA SIGINT? why is NSA spying on regional and local Law Enforcement further down the food chain? NSA already has that data. NSA wouldnt even need to use TAO and CNE to collect data from Netsentia. They could just ask for the data.

my best guess is it's some kind of Inside Threat monitoring system. TAO hacks into those systems to install CNE implants that watch for SD cards being inserted, to detect rogue Fusion Center and LE personnel who are bulk stealing files by copying them onto SD cards.

but that seems like a really dumb thing to do. why not just disable the SD card readers and/or remove the hardware? a PC in a Fusion Center shouldnt even have an SD card reader.

ironic, since Snowden roughly implied in his recent autobiography that the way he stole millions of NSA's top secret files was by sneaker net'ing them home using SD cards.

LOL NSA has been screwing up its defense against SD cards for at least a decade and that screw up is what made Snowden possible.

i bet dozens of Russian and Chinese and Israeli moles have stolen far more than Snowden ever took from NSA using

justanotheranon··on Atlas of Surveillance
the biggest sin of Parallel Construction is that it violates Brady.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brady_v._Maryland

Under Brady, the prosecution is compelled by the Constitution to share all evidence with the defense, in order for the defense to be able to potentially challenge it.

Parallel Construction is secret evidence that is intentionally scrubbed from the Court record in order to keep the existence of illegal mass surveillance concealed. You can't challenge Parallel Construction in Court, because the evidence doesn't exist, and even if your defense attorney did have it, that evidence would be inadmissable based on State Secrets being invoked. Meanwhile, we all know domestic mass surveillance is happening, yet our Govt has to pretend it is not happening.

The Emperor truly has no clothes.

Why is our Govt going to such an extreme length of destroying decades of jurisprudence and risking reducing our Justice System to a farcical Kangaroo Court like in the USSR?

As the wise maxim from Watergate goes, "it's not the crime, it's the cover up."

Parallel Construction was invented, deployed and standardized as routine policy for one purpose: to prevent the Gov'ts illegal domestic mass surveillance from being challenged in Court, by preventing anyone from gaining legal standing against it.

Why doesnt the Govt just admit what we already know? "Yeah, we're spying on all of you, all of your cell phones, your emails and web browsing and Internet comms, we have it all and we search your data for crimes to charge you with."

If FedGov admitted the truth, all mass surveillance would be shut down by SCOTUS for violating not only the 4th Amendment, but also Brady and dozens of other laws. But wait, it gets worse. FedGov made the biggest blunder that compounds the error of their original sin. FedGov did not even KEEP TRACK of which collected evidence is Parallel Construction and which is normal evidence. That means hundreds of thousands of decided criminal cases would need to be tossed, because FedGov has no way to go back and comply with Brady, even to say "we are certain that no NSA SIGINT was used as Parallel Construction in your case."

The Govt doesnt know!!! If you remember the news from a few years ago where NSA was still retaining all domestic data collected between 2001-2007, and Congress morons were grandstanding "hur dur, NSA is holding American's data forever, we must force NSA to delete it"--the real reason for that was not because NSA wanted to retain your 20 year old emails. It was because NSA knew Brady could be a legal nuke used to annihilate NSA if the Court ever gave standing for someone to challenge Parallel Construction. NSA saved all that data in anticipation of saving its own neck. If NSA had to tell a Judge, "we purged all data about every case between 2001-2007, so we have no way to comply with Brady even if we didnt do anything wrong", that would sink NSA in Court. The FISC Judges would shutdown NSA the same day.

but guess what? Congress won that debate and forced NSA to delete the old data collected under STELLARWIND. now NSA has jumped out of the plane without a parachute.

someday there will be a Parallel Construction case that causes the sky to fall. it's inevitable.

what's going to happen? NSA, FBI, CIA and DOJ will be reigned in by some Judge? the old way will be restored and Law and Order in a mostly fair justice system will be the norm again?

lol of course not. FedGov and the Deep State will NEVER give up their power to mass surveil. instead, they will be forced to invent some new Law that allows them to continue business as usual. and that law will be openly and extremely Totalitarian and it will slowly shift America away from being a Democratic Republic towards being a Monarchical Empire.

Aaron had been helping Assange and Wikileaks very early on. In 2009, Wikileaks released files from the Congressional Research Service, apparently obtained by scraping their website using a trivial by-pass to access non-public files.

Aaron had worked on the staff of Congressman Grayson during the same time period.

What if it was Aaron poking around the CRS website as part of his job duties who found that bug and then gave it to Assange?

That would make Aaron the "source" for that 2009 leak--one of the first things published by then young Wikileaks.

what if the reason DOJ so harshly persecuted Aaron was because of his involvement with Wikileaks? This is speculation, as there is no explicit evidence supporting this. Aaron's connection to Wikileaks seems like an important enough coincidence that I cannot rule it out.

But I have always wondered: just how far does the US govt go to suppress and permanently silence people who are Enemies of the State? Especially talented programmers who are digitial natives well equipped to challenge systems of power which are more and more based on technical and information supremacy?
