We try to sign publishers without any geographical restrictions, but I think it's ultimately up to them.

I'm not sure about the specific legalities (I'm a developer at Blendle) but our iOS client offers offline support and we integrate with services like Pocket.
jurre··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (April 2015)
Blendle | Utrecht, Netherlands | Full time | Frontend/Backend/Operations/iOS/Android/Business

We build a paywall, a conversion tool and front-ends that result effectively in a portal that offers Pay-Per-Newspaper-Article. Currently we have almost 250.000 active accounts in the Netherlands alone. You can find a better explanation here: https://launch.blendle.com/ and the actual product is here: https://blendle.com. We use Ruby, Node.js, Redis, Elasticsearch, PostgreSQL, Ansible, Sinatra, Clojure, React and more Ruby. We're experimenting with Go, Elixir and Spark amongst others. All the jobs postings are in Dutch. They can be found here: http://jobs.blendle.nl. (Currently, Dutch is the main language in all communications. But we're willing to change our ways for the right person.)

Parsing the referrer would still require some work from their servers right?
jurre··on A standard for building APIs in JSON
Roar[0] works great for this, we use it for our HAL APIs and I'm very happy with it.

jurre··on The road to Ember 2.0 RFC
I'd love a blog post about this, I've struggled with it and given up in the past, but I'd love to migrate our ember-rails app over to cli!

I can imagine that could be nice especially for freelancers or just to track your own productivity!

Our use case was more that we have a lot of different projects and we didn't really have any insight on how we were spending time within those projects. For example we wanted to know if spending more time on prototyping would cut down on development time or why one project took a lot longer than another.

That's exactly how I imagine that era, feel free to drop by for a coffee if you're ever around (we're @ zuiderpark now)
jurre··on Show HN: We just released + open sourced our internal time tracking app Hours
Oh that's also pretty cool! Props for open sourcing it

We've added an MIT license without a disclaimer, people are free to do whatever they please with it.

Invoicing is not something that we personally need, if you do need that sort of functionality there are tons of alternatives out there :)
jurre··on Show HN: We just released + open sourced our internal time tracking app Hours
Totally agree that the onboarding experience sucks, we need to improve that

Tracking this here: https://github.com/DefactoSoftware/Hours/issues/132

Thanks for your feedback, yes we've been using it for about six months now and it's been working for us. Feel free to submit a pull request with anything you think is missing :)

The sign out on edit is a new bug, we're tracking it here: https://github.com/DefactoSoftware/Hours/pull/131

We're hosting this on Heroku, I think you should be fine on their free instance which has 512mb I think? :)
jurre··on Show HN: We just released + open sourced our internal time tracking app Hours
Looking into it, haven't seen that before! Thanks for letting me know!
jurre··on Show HN: We just released + open sourced our internal time tracking app Hours
You're right, totally missed that! Let me double check at work in a few minutes but I'll probably add an MIT license with a disclaimer to please don't be a jerk and offer a paid hosted version yourself
jurre··on Show HN: We just released + open sourced our internal time tracking app Hours
Haha yes you're right! It's a screenshot of our actual instance of Hours, maybe we should update it ^^

jurre··on What ORMs have taught me: just learn SQL
Not sure about .net since I don't use it but for ruby there are a lot of monitoring services that do this (skylight.io, newrelic etc).
jurre··on What ORMs have taught me: just learn SQL
This is simply not true, lots of tools are able to tell you exactly which line of code is responsible for which query.
jurre··on Show HN: Free Survey Creator
The landing page is actually an interactive survey builder though.. And quite nice at that.
jurre··on Google Analytics iOS app
Wonder if the charting is native and if so if google might open source it

I find obj-c super readable, other people don't? I mean, take two hours to get used to the bracket syntax for message sending and it's super readable although a bit verbose?
