julien421··on HNWatcher: track keywords and follow users on Hacker News
Hey Fuzzwash,

You are right but unfortunatly, hosting + emails ( via mailgun ) are not free, so at one point we will probably have to charge for the service if we have lots of users. We are not a company and we are not funded, this is a week-end(s) side-project :)

It is partially based on HN Search API [1] and partially based on homemade Ruby scripts.

This is a good idea of service, but it is not the goal of HNWatcher.

The idea begin HNWatcher is to track keywords and users in order to: - never miss an important news about your topic/startup/product/friend/blog/... - upvote while the submission is not too old - etc...

We also store the stories, so that you can find them whenever you need (hnsearch, running the search on hn, will give you only the last 1000 items). And we also track karmas of users.

About pricing: unfortunatly, hosting + emails ( via mailgun ) are not free, so at one point we will probably have to charge for the service if we have lots of users.

It is possible to run a VM inside Docker and still retain some advantages of containers, but not all of them since there is a "VM" in the sentence :)

julien421··on Show HN: Indexing video through content
Very nice! What about video SEO? Do you know which impact your product has on SEO? If I put the transcript on my youtube page (in description) and/or on my webpage? What can I expect from that?
julien421··on Show HN: Indexing video through content
I don't understand, so you sync the video with the transcript or do you extract the transcript yourself from the video?

Thank you Chris. So a better way would be a compile an executable instead of using a shell script?

julien421··on Build Your Own SaaS Using Docker (cs50x project)
Hey! I've been playing with docker for a few weeks now for this project. I started working on my project using LXC & AUFS, but then switched to Docker when it was released. Frankly it made my life much easier because getting LXC and AUFS to do what you want can be pretty hardcore.
julien421··on Build Your Own SaaS Using Docker (cs50x project)
Hello!

This website is a proof of concept with a simple Memcached SaaS. It is my final project for cs50x that ended this sunday. Please tell me what you think :)
