jubalfh··on Others are speaking up about discrimination at Tesla
Misogyny, peddling conspiracy theories and blatant victim blaming are acceptable though? How about sarcasm?
jubalfh··on Mastodon Is Like Twitter Without Nazis, So Why Are We Not Using It?
Not every country is the United States of America, and freedom of speech is not exclusively defined by amendments to an American constitution.

You can ban the nazi symbols & language and still have freedom of speech.

jubalfh··on [dead]
I think I have the title for my next bestseller: “from a visioner to a quisling: how to destroy one's reputation in three to five tweets”.
jubalfh··on Command execution on Ansible controller from host
Well, it's an agent-less system after all, the idea is to keep the system lean.
jubalfh··on Command execution on Ansible controller from host
Incredibly. But it seems to be The Ruby Way™…
jubalfh··on Command execution on Ansible controller from host
Seen that approach in production, had to work with it, was not very impressed.
jubalfh··on Git Koans (2013)
To add a bit more context: I think that the author came to use git /after/ they learned mercurial. For a long time mercurial's history was completely immutable, and hg's branches are very different from git ones (the mercurial equivalent of git branches is called bookmarks).
jubalfh··on Tech worker resistance is crucial to preventing human rights abuses in the U.S
perhaps he had mistaken broomsticks with pitchforks…
jubalfh··on Tech worker resistance is crucial to preventing human rights abuses in the U.S
How odd, bringing up the past to explain the present.
jubalfh··on Tech worker resistance is crucial to preventing human rights abuses in the U.S
How about we make everyone a monarch and everyone's house a castle?
jubalfh··on Tech worker resistance is crucial to preventing human rights abuses in the U.S
…ah that fragile ego of the orange site's participants…
jubalfh··on What I Learned About Julian Assange While Working Alongside Him
The stuffed giraffe, I presume.
jubalfh··on Why Do These Straight Men Want Nothing to Do with Women?
> We tried having a 'Men's Shed' in our town, but I think it got shut down by a bunch of harpies.

happy is a place where the mythical Greek creatures dwell, and where they have enough good sense to shut down questionable establishments

> I voted for it in the Irish election recently even though I had to visit 4 polling stations to get it in properly

I call bullshit. Everyone here knows it was a referendum, not an election, and everyone here knows where they're supposed to vote

regarding the homosexuality scare, it's the right and conservatives you have to thank for, not the left.

jubalfh··on Why Do These Straight Men Want Nothing to Do with Women?
That is a lovely joke though.
jubalfh··on The 2016 Election
If being rational would correlate with getting rich, one would live in a rather interesting place.

Surely, you jest.

jubalfh··on Our statement on the results of the Jacob Appelbaum investigation
Let me point you at one gentleman's comment left a few weeks ago on another thread: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=11850889.
jubalfh··on Our statement on the results of the Jacob Appelbaum investigation
Just like being a rapist and a fugitive stopped Polański from continuing his film-making career. Really.
jubalfh··on Our statement on the results of the Jacob Appelbaum investigation
Consider: “officer Batman shot metaphorm dead” vs. “officer Batman's weapon discharged killing metaphorm”.
jubalfh··on Alison Macrina: I’m one of the people Jake Appelbaum sexually assaulted
Paul Elam.
jubalfh··on Alison Macrina: I’m one of the people Jake Appelbaum sexually assaulted
Oh dear. Who comes next, Elam?
jubalfh··on Jacob Appelbaum’s response to accusations by the Tor community
aren't you easily persuaded…
jubalfh··on Jacob Appelbaum’s response to accusations by the Tor community
That being a conspiracy would be actually quite comforting, wouldn't it?

Unfortunately, I think the simpler explanation – that humanity fails at being both human and humane – is more probable.

jubalfh··on Jacob Appelbaum’s response to accusations by the Tor community
I'm not sure bringing up Gomeshi's case as an example of false accusation is such a very good idea, though.
jubalfh··on Jacob Appelbaum’s response to accusations by the Tor community
Don't let reading Raymond warp your mind. Also, this: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=11850930.
jubalfh··on Economic Inequality
What's wrong with being a socialist (or even a communist)?
jubalfh··on First NetHack bot ascension
It's usually not a first choice, but the tourist starts the game wearing it.
jubalfh··on GitHub donates private repositories to women learning open source software
Do substantiate.
jubalfh··on This is why I don't give you a job
Good luck at your next meeting with the firing squad!
