A 20 hour work week, a pattern we should all strive to follow.
juancb··on Yellen Summons Regulators to Discuss Financial Market Volatility
Would sitting on one or more boards not be an option for Hellen and would those not be industry positions?

You established that no one has a career, so we can't be our careers.
juancb··on NULL license plate not such a bright idea
Like Make, Model, Color, and VIN? The last time I got a parking ticket it certainly included those details in the citation. I can imagine being able to contest and win any citations issued to the same plate but with otherwise non-matching supporting information. But in the case where someone else has the same make, model, and color car, you might be out of luck if the VIN gets recorded as "CANNOT READ" or is left blank.
juancb··on NULL license plate not such a bright idea
Sure he did nothing wrong because it backfired like one of Wile E. Coyote's schemes but the article makes it clear he was hoping to confuse automatic ticketing systems. He was trying to get out of tickets. Sure he didn't break the letter of the law but he tried to break the spirit of the law and it bit him. Some might call that karma, I think he needs a better hobby than standing in line at the DMV which is ultimately what he has taken up. I wonder how long he'll keep going.
juancb··on My dad’s resume and skills from 1980
So if that's the resume then why does that letter have a line at the end asking that the reader of the letter read the enclosed resume? Looks more like a cover letter to me given the way it's addressed and signed. Very neat indeed, but op may yet come across another document.

"May I ask that you read the enclosed, resume. Thank you very much."

juancb··on Juggalos figured out how to beat facial recognition
They should seek funding to help them continue to disrupt the facial recognition space. The entrepreneurial spirit really is alive everywhere you look.

juancb··on A look back: The Bloomberg Keyboard (2017)
I hope this becomes a new TV trope, the trader perpetually spilling his coffee on a keyboard.

Are you saying that you see human life as something that can be bought and sold?

It's one thing to talk about punitive damages and liability, these are factual mechanisms of our legal system. But just because damages can be paid and are on a regular basis they do not imply that there is some socially acceptable let alone codified price for a human life. And we should hope for our own sake there never is.

I agree that marketing should not be allowed to let their imagination run wild to the detriment of the company.

In the case of the liability bit IANAL but that's likely to differ between industries. Some sectors like aviation are highly regulated and require certification of the aircraft and the airplane flight manual is tied to that serial number and is expected to be, correct and free of gross errors for normal operation. So liability can vary. Are you suggesting from experience that there is no liability in the case of Tesla taking into account their industry's context? I don't know enough about their industry to judge, just looking for clarification.
