jstalin··on The Other Half
It's not popular these days to claim that there are differences between men and women.
jstalin··on What Killed the Linux Desktop (2012)
Office. If Linux desktop had microsoft office, I could use it. Libre office is an unmitigated, ugly pile of shit.
jstalin··on Use of Ad-Blocking Software Rises by 30% Worldwide
This. I installed ublock on my grandpa's computer because he called a day after I sent him a new one to tell me it wasn't working right. In just one day he had loaded it up with malware. I installed ublock, installed a bunch of additional filters, and there's been no problem since.
jstalin··on Welcome, ACLU
Then not about seven middle-eastern countries civil liberties?
jstalin··on Welcome, ACLU
And signed by Obama himself.
jstalin··on Welcome, ACLU
Of course you know the answer: The ACLU is a political organization.

Edit: Not a peep out of the ACLU when the Obama administration permanently ended the Cuban refugee program and many refugees in Mexico are now being deported back to Cuba because there is no chance of them being accepted in the US. 60 day pause on refugees from seven middle-eastern countries identified and signed into law by the Obama administration? MELTDOWN.

jstalin··on Two Infants Treated with Universal Immune Cells Have Their Cancer Vanish
Agreed. Patent and insurance reform are crucial.
jstalin··on Two Infants Treated with Universal Immune Cells Have Their Cancer Vanish
How much were the first large-screen LCDs? How much are they now?
jstalin··on U.S. Supreme Court Curbs Excessive Design Patent Damages
That's not unusual. The media often portrays things very differently from the actual issues, as your example shows. Part of the problem is that media (particularly TV) has to keep people's attention, therefore it's necessarily in their best interest to sensationalize and simplify.

To answer your question, yes, the Supreme Court's oral argument audio is always posted online.

jstalin··on To Know If the Election Was Hacked, Look at the Ballots
He didn't say he wouldn't accept the results. He said he would wait and see, you know, kinda like Bush v. Gore.
jstalin··on To Know If the Election Was Hacked, Look at the Ballots
Perhaps the error is expecting all Latinos to act like a hive mind.
jstalin··on Reddit is down
Their anti-Milo filter short circuited.
jstalin··on OneReceipt Shutting Down 8/24/16
I was just thinking to myself that a receipt saving service would be useful for my small business...
jstalin··on Researchers crack open malware that hid for 5 years
Well, end of story. That's it then. No more discussion can be had!
jstalin··on Cat People vs. Dog People
I agree with your thoughts, but I also understand that different people like different pets. To me a cat is perfect because it's relatively self-sufficient and I can leave my cat alone for a few days without a problem. I don't want to have to run home early from dinner because I need to let the dog out.
jstalin··on Cat People vs. Dog People
Or poor, as in gata being slang for your housekeeper.
jstalin··on Tokyo may have found the solution to soaring housing costs
It's the opposite of central planning. According to the article, there is a uniform set of rules. Follow the rules, build your condo building. In the US there is central planning on the local level, usually the city level. Planning commissions determine if your project meets the "character of the neighborhood" and neighbors bitch and complain that your project will "create more traffic" and the (central) planning commission denies your permit.
jstalin··on The return of the Luddite president
If I were a candidate for president, I wouldn't use email either. It's a political and security risk.
jstalin··on The Real Paranoia-Inducing Purpose of Russian Hacks
Not to mention that the hackers "accidentally" left metadata in the emails that refers to Felix Dzerzhinsky, the founder of the Cheka, the precursor to the KGB. That's either the sloppiest intelligence operation ever, or an easter egg meant to distract.
jstalin··on Turkish government revokes ham radio licenses
Must be quite a bit. I have 3700+ and still can't vouch.
jstalin··on Seattle's next light rail plan is slow because it reflects our values
Because light rail is big and shiny.
jstalin··on Dissolving the Dead
There is a trend called "green burial" where just that service is offered. I had to look into it for a client who wanted a green burial dictated in her will. There are local cemeteries that specialize in it. They basically wrap you in a sheet and bury you. No casket, no vault, no embalming.
jstalin··on WikiLeaks reveals the NSA spied on Berlusconi and his closest advisors
Strange. Wikileaks never seems to leak anything from other countries, such as Russia or China.
jstalin··on Mark Zuckerberg Backs Apple in Its Refusal to Unlock iPhone
Apple has an incentive to serve its customers and provide a product that they want. Governments have no such incentive and indeed do their best to ignore the wishes of their "customers." Companies measure success by profit. Governments measure success by the whims of unaccountable bureaucrats and egomaniacial politicians.
jstalin··on Young Saudis See Cushy Jobs Vanish Along with Nation’s Oil Wealth
Saudi Arabia is one giant welfare state of ISIS sympathizers where they have had no incentive to innovate.
jstalin··on The Legend of Verdun
If anyone has an opportunity to visit the Verdun area, please do. It's surreal. The landscape is still scarred by the war. It feels like you're on the moon. Craters, pieces of metal still sticking out of the ground, bunkers... undoubtedly wherever you are walking there are probably soldiers buried beneath you.
jstalin··on Google Lowered Taxes by $2.4B Using European Subsidiaries
Outstanding. Tax competition is a good thing.
jstalin··on Physicists Detect Gravitational Waves, Proving Einstein Right
Does gravity move at the speed of light?
jstalin··on Parker Conrad Steps Down as Zenefits CEO
That internal audit must be a doozy.
