jrm2k6··on Show HN: Posters of Your GitHub Contributions
If you just want a little widget to display and not necessarily a poster, there is also this: https://github.com/jrm2k6/contwidgetor (gets your bitbucket contributions as well).
jrm2k6··on Announcing Ionic 2 Final
With react-native, if you isolate your components from your logic enough, (example: use Redux), you can reuse all the logic in a react-native app, and just change the components part, which is usually not that hard, at least on the simple apps I worked on. Another advantage that react-native would have would also be to be able to have native code and react-native code in the same app.
jrm2k6··on Ask HN: Would you see value in a “verify email” API?
Just seeing your reply now, sorry, not used to get answers on HN :D

Yes, I see what you mean. Maybe I should give it a shot. :)

jrm2k6··on Announcing Ionic 2 Final
Stupid question, but Ionic is not native, or was not at least. But react-native is actually using only native APIs through Javascript. So if you want to have a native look and feel, why not go with react-native?
jrm2k6··on Ask HN: Would you see value in a “verify email” API?
I was checking about that today, to see if it was actually something I would be interested in working on. I found that service doing something similar: http://docs.kickbox.io/

Is that what you meant?

EDIT: ok, you don't want any backend so webhooks won't work.

jrm2k6··on From Secretary to Software Developer: The Hard Way
Canada is actually the closest to having an "accreditation" for Computer Engineering if I remember correctly. I have never interviewed in Canada so I cannot tell if your school/degree matters that much, but not everybody can consider themselves software/computer engineer if they don't have the degree going with it. Once again, I don't know how this is in practice.
jrm2k6··on From Secretary to Software Developer: The Hard Way
Could explain it. I think also easy access to information/tutorials/affordability for self-learning?
jrm2k6··on From Secretary to Software Developer: The Hard Way
This is exactly how I reacted when reading that line. Everybody can become a developer, yes. Everybody can become a good developer quickly, most likely not, and that applies also to people coming out with a formal education in CS, not only bootcampers.

I don't understand fully why so many people think that about coding, but not about other fields, like cooking/building/who knows.

jrm2k6··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (February 2016)
Curology (www.curology.com) San Francisco and San Diego Onsite

Looking for: - Full Stack Engineers - Javascript Engineers

Curology is a first-of-its-kind online service that offers customized prescription treatment for acne and anti-aging.

New patients are paired online with a licensed dermatologist or nurse practitioner who evaluates photos of the patient's skin, prescribes a medication tailored for their skin type and becomes their long-term partner in achieving their skincare goals. Curology patients have their medications shipped to their door and have access to unlimited communication with their healthcare provider via a secure messaging platform.

We use Laravel, React.js and Ember.js for our stack. We are looking for curious, motivated and willing to learn engineers to help us grow our tech team. We offer equity, great salaries, and a fun place to work at where you can have a real impact!

If you are interested feel free to send me an email at jeremy@curology.com

jrm2k6··on Ask HN: What are you currently building?
I am working on different things:

- some newsletter + different API wrappers in Laravel

- a widget easy to integrate on your website, fetching your contributions from Github and Bitbucket to display them in a calendar.

- A reading companion for a middle school in San Diego.

jrm2k6··on I am Peter Roberts, an immigration lawyer who does work for YC and startups. AMA
I think you need to get an H1B first to be at least eligible to the green card. J1 is a visa with no intent of immigration.
jrm2k6··on Survey of popular Node.js packages reveals credential leaks
Github invalidates your API token if it is pushed in one of your repos. Pretty handy.
jrm2k6··on Ask HN: When did Firefox become so broken?
I have the same issue when it comes to the slowness. It crashes really easily, and takes up a lot of RAM. Chrome runs just fine with the same websites. Each time I switched to a new opened tab, it hangs, that is deeply annoying.

It might be better to open an issue on a forum/dev complaints board, but I feel like it is always the same answers. Do a reinstall/reset to factory settings or this kind of thing, which is not helpful as I have obviously done it.

jrm2k6··on Take me as an Intern – 19yo student seeking internship
And more than that, not enough spots for everybody. Big companies are going to get most of them no? Especially for an intern, it is almost impossible.
jrm2k6··on Take me as an Intern – 19yo student seeking internship
I think it takes time though to apply for the J1 visa. I remember the process to get mine being 6-7 weeks and I was interning for a UC university, meaning they have 'easy' access to it.
jrm2k6··on How to Center in CSS
Flexbox++
jrm2k6··on Show HN: Create your personal website with just one click
Nice! I guess I need to work on my import from LinkedIn feature for json-resume-dynamic on npm. :)
jrm2k6··on Use ReactJS to Build Native Apps
React-native uses React code to build native applications.
jrm2k6··on Front End Developer – Interview Questions
Is there anything like that for Android developers?
jrm2k6··on Have a startup idea sitting in the back of your mind?
+1. My first thought was exactly that. I have an idea, but no time to put work into it yet. Why would have give it to you if it is a good idea.
jrm2k6··on iOS Developer/Designer Interview Questions
Off-topic: Is there something like that for Android Developers?
jrm2k6··on Just wrote my first ebook about using Ionic for cross-platform app development
Is there any other good resources but your book?
jrm2k6··on Ask HN: Who wants to be hired? (December 2014)
Location: San Diego

Remote: Yes

Willing to relocate: No

Technologies: Javascript, Typescript, Android/Java, Actionscript, Haxe, Flask/Django, Python, a tiny bit of Haskell

Resume: www.linkedin.com/in/jeremydagorn/ Github: https://github.com/jrm2k6 Blog: http://www.flask-blog.jeremydagorn.com/

Email: jeremy.dagorn@gmail.com

I am a programmer with mostly front-end experience. I worked on really dynamic UI, shipped to millions of users in the last two years. I am someone curious, caring about testing and quality code, with attention to details. On my spare time, I work on some Android apps, and other projects using Python and Haskell.

I am looking for any kind of full-stack position, where I could be learning a lot and get challenged. I am a fast-learner. Working using some functional language could be fun as I have an increasing interest in Haskell. I am also interested in the backend world, but don't have any experience yet, thus the full-stack position interest.

jrm2k6··on How do you get to write so well in HN?
Do you also have an accent when speaking in French now? My family and friends told me that even when I speak French I have a weird accent. I have been living in the US, Canada and Hungary and have been speaking English daily for the last 3 years, and it is weird to me that I have now an accent in my native language
jrm2k6··on Ask HN: Help. I need to go away from here
I don't think this is worth a post on HN with the title containing the word help. As another HN user from France said, you are an EU citizen, you can move everywhere.

There are so many countries except the obvious one with a growing startup scene.

- Scandinavia in general. - Estonia is one of the european country with the biggest number of startup. - UK is easy to access, Germany too.

Visas for the US are hard to get that's true. You are not even working yet, give you some time, learn more, build a network, contribute, and you will get noticed (and get away from your "hell").

jrm2k6··on The Most Important Skill of Programmer
I would say 'the ability to learn how to learn'. OK, it gets complicated but the way I see it is that learning is great, if you know when you have reached enough knowledge to move on. On the other side, not learn too much as the same time, like being able to know how to do 'Hello World' in 24 languages is not useful, but some people/companies consider it as learning.
jrm2k6··on The Most Important Skill of Programmer
Can you give an example about that? I like this idea but I am not sure I can picture it.
jrm2k6··on I quit my job
I really like this article, as I feel being somehow in the same position. Words chosen express totally my feelings. I'm happy to see that I am not the only one having this issue.
