jp1989··on What we're learning building an online tech community in Stockholm, Sweden
Hi all. We're building an online tech community in Sweden - it's going really well so far - and we'd love more feedback.
jp1989··on Show HN: Know how much to sell your stuff for on the internet
Those are the next two tasks:)

Thanks for the kind feedback!

jp1989··on Show HN: A community for Swedish Startups
No problems, I should've made that more clear :)
jp1989··on Show HN: A community for Swedish Startups
Awesome!
jp1989··on Show HN: A community for Swedish Startups
Good point! We've been working with a few design ideas and I'm sure over time it will become more 'scandinavian feeling'. In terms of the domain - because we are trying to also promote Sweden to the world, we thought it more logical to use .com - we do have .se however. Great feedback though!
jp1989··on Show HN: A community for Swedish Startups
Well, in order to promote the Swedish scene to the rest of the world - it must be in English - so that's the fairly simple reason. The second being, I am not Swedish myself, so it doesn't really feel natural to write in Swedish.

Sorry guys, the site actually crashed due to a non-HN related issue just after posting :S

We just updated the design and would love some feedback on it.

jp1989··on Stockholm Startup Jobs June 2013
Some awesome Swedish companies are currently looking for developers. The scene here in Stockholm especially is buzzing (http://economist.com/blogs/schumpeter/2013/05/start-ups-swed...) so people should definitely get in contact if they're interested in a move to Swe!
jp1989··on New website dutchstartupjobs.com helps startups find talent
We post about startup jobs in Stockholm regularly here (http://swedishstartuspace.com)

jp1989··on Show HN: No TechCrunch. No Bullshit. Just Startup- & Founder-Stories

jp1989··on Show HN: If Snapchat and Foursquare had a baby
Cool. I just signed in, but couldn't find any of my FB friends (obviously none are connected) but can't I invite them?

Is this just using the FB/Google maps APIs?

Good luck with it!

jp1989··on Ask HN: Where do you find the business development people?
Where are you located?
jp1989··on Stockholm-Based Helishopter Takes On The Big Guys
Not a bad point - I personally have a couple of friends who are pretty clued up on a few things (whether it's tech, fashion, design stuff) so I generally am inspired by what they buy. I don't even always ask them - but I follow what they are purchasing because I trust their judgment on those things.

I'm of course a little biased, so I'd also be interested in hearing from some other people on their shopping habits!

jp1989··on Show HN: Helishopter - real social shopping
Always interested. Send me an email james(at)helishopter.com Thanks.
jp1989··on Show HN: Helishopter - real social shopping
Yep - we know. We're working on it.
jp1989··on Stockholm-Based Helishopter Takes On The Big Guys
BTW - As you may notice from our landing page our video is outdated (UI-wise) - so we'd be open to having a HN'er make us a new one. Any takers?
jp1989··on Stockholm-Based Helishopter Takes On The Big Guys
Look awesome - Are you the admin? When is the next event?
jp1989··on Stockholm-Based Helishopter Takes On The Big Guys
Well - it's fair to say that we are closer to Svpply than to The Fancy. One of the main differences is that Svpply focus on curation and user-generated content, whilst we are indexing stores in order to create a large database. On sites like Svpply/Fancy, I believe the users are more inclined to scroll endlessly looking for product inspiration.

We want Helishopter to become a "natural destination" i.e. when you know you are looking for a "green polo jacket", you go to Helishopter and search for a "green polo jacket". From there you can see all the "green polo jackets" in our database that are sorted by not only popularity but the social dimension as well. One of the fundamental features is that we show you products that your social connections have interacted with previously. For example, if one of your "friends" has brought, or interacted with a "green polo jacket" from gap.com, that product will show up first in the search results.

jp1989··on Stockholm-Based Helishopter Takes On The Big Guys
That's pretty spot on. We're trying to mix the "practical" of Amazon (everything is there) with the "inspirational" of Pinterest (your friends are there).

We're different from the Fancy in that we aim to provide a natural destination point for all shopping (whereby we have a very large product database) - where I believe the Fancy are more focused on a "personal curation". The Fancy is an awesome site though!

My hero!
jp1989··on Stockholm-Based Helishopter Takes On The Big Guys
Absolutely. Where are you working at (I see you're in Sthlm)?
jp1989··on Show HN: Helishopter - real social shopping
Hey man. The answer is that at this point we will get a whole lot of new bugs pop up if we drop in a new version of jq. It will be done at some point when the timing is right!

Regarding the film, it was done by simplestoryvideos and I highly recommend them!

jp1989··on Show HN: Helishopter - real social shopping
Hmm weird - I'll look into it now, but thanks.

Probably still a month or two off - just working on fixing up all the bugs & styling issues that we have.

jp1989··on Show HN: Helishopter - real social shopping
Hey.

Firstly, we don't currently have a mobile version of the app yet (it is a web app, not a website). It's coming soon though.

Helishopter Lite will appear if you don't have Javascript enabled - can you check that? Thanks!
