joshghent··on More Is More: The End of Minimalism
> maximalism may be more about filling in a void of loneliness and isolation

This quote summarises the true intention - buying stuff makes you happy. We all get a kick out of this but that is not going to provide lasting happiness.

As others have pointed out, minimalism isn’t about the number of things you own. And in a way, if you’re “minimalistic” you are also “materialistic” - truly caring about the things you own.

joshghent··on Git password authentication is shutting down
This is a good thing, but I've got an awkward "chicken and egg" situation. My dotfiles are stored on GitHub, which I pull using username/password. The scripts then sets up and adds a new SSH key to GitHub.
joshghent··on Starting a TypeScript Project in 2021
Ever since watching Jonathan blows talk "Preventing the collapse of civilisation", I've been mulling over things like this. It feels like we have this defacto set of commands you have to run to start a new Node/Typescript project, without much understand of what it does. Then you get complier or lint errors and then spend ages googling around for the answer that tells you to change a specific flag. This isn't a complete thought but I hope someone knows what I'm getting at.
joshghent··on We are far from a better Heroku for production apps in a hyper cloud
This reads like the infamous "use ftp" comment about Dropbox, but in reverse. It totally misses the point of why people use Heroku. A) It's free B) You don't need to know how to code.

Same thing applies to Netlify. This post seems quite desperate.

joshghent··on Full Throttle – fan film script by Duncan Jones [pdf]
Completely agree. I wish they'd do a remake of In Time - interesting concept that was poorly executed.
