jonquark··on My wife found my email in the Ashley Madison database
I have no personal experience of AM - but everything I have read about it says that they did not require email validation of this sort.
jonquark··on MQTT – machine-to-machine connectivity protocol
MQTT defines a wire protocol (that includes transmitting user & client id). Most MQTT brokers have a granular authorisation model so the topics that request (or just publish) a body temperature reading would allow a different set of users to publish than the topics that would cause pacemaker firmware to be updated.
jonquark··on Farewell, Dr. Dobb's
I've never read Dr. Dobbs regularly, but often when struggling with thorny issues I've come across helpful articles (in particular a series by Herb Sutter a few years back really helped).

This is sad news - I should have supported it better when it existed - I'll miss it when it is gone!

jonquark··on SurgeMQ: MQTT Message Queue at 750,000 MPS
It's good to see new MQTT servers. As one of the developers of IBM's product in this space I'd like to mention it: http://www-03.ibm.com/software/products/en/messagesight

I'm biased and MessageSight has existed a lot longer so it's not fair to compare them but if people want to see numbers our performance report is here: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg24035590 (that report is for 1.1, the equivalent for 1.2 released a couple of weeks ago isn't out yet).

Good luck and a fair wind to everyone in the MQTT space!

jonquark··on 2048, success and me
If anyone else finds it on Amazon I'd appreciate a link, my phone (Jolla) doesn't have access to the Play Store.
