johnnypangs··on Goodbye CSS Modules, Hello TailwindCSS
I had always heard inline styles were slower and not recommended by browsers. Here is a blog post looking into that:

https://simonadcock.com/are-inline-styles-faster-than-atomic...

In reality the difference wasn’t so big but inline styles might not scale well. (I also realize the original poster might have been sarcastic but it’s a fun to look into even the non serious ideas).

It's not linting, it's typechecking which is slightly different. Linting won't catch type errors. All I'm recommending is to add a typecheck to the CI system so no one sneaks in a broken type (I couldn't recognize a broken type in a PR personally).

The catch is that they focus on modern builds (I.e. not IE) it also doesn’t do type definitions, so if you want type defs you’ll need to compile with typescript anyway.

This might worked on solo projects but if you’re working with people, I’d highly recommend enforcing type checking of some sort. People will ignore the IDE error messages.

How much better is Google? Sure you can buy kindle books on android but they have done many a shady practice. There is always pinephone :)

Where did you get 95% from?
johnnypangs··on Ask HN:Which is the simplest CMS to Integrate?
I’ve used Netlify CMS, it’s pretty nice and free. The data stays in GitHub and it’s compatible with a number of different SSRs. I used it with Gatsby before, it worked well.

johnnypangs··on Wayfinder – a relaxing 'art game' in the browser
Beautiful game that runs really well (even on mobile), the authors should be proud!
johnnypangs··on Ness – Deploy web sites to your AWS account
Does anyone have a good way to use this to replace preview? My only idea is up on pull request down on merge.

Thanks for the response, I appreciate it!

Can anyone give some references on that Web Components have bad dev ergonomics? Is it just that Web Components don't allow passing of complex types so you have to stringify everything?
johnnypangs··on Real-world CSS vs. CSS-in-JS performance comparison
It's kind of like bootstrap except it's more focused on the developer building styles instead of having a number of prebuilt styles.

It also is more based on what css can do instead of having it's own abstraction. Most of the class names in Tailwind are very close to their css key+value equivalents. For example if you wanted to write `float: right` in css you'd use the Tailwind class `float-right`.

johnnypangs··on CodePerfect 95 – A fast IDE for Go
I had this once, I ended up finding something in a region I don’t normally use.

I have also canceled an aws account over this which I would not recommend as they require you to go through support to reactivate. Doable but annoying.

johnnypangs··on Google can't pass its own page speed test
It seems like this is the case. There is a link to a more informative article in the Reddit post that has a spokesperson from google who says that if you’re the most relevant, you’re going to still be ranked well.
