johnnyApplePRNG··on Ask HN: Are others seeing Google's reCAPTCHA rejecting Firefox users?
reCAPTCHA actually works for me. The one that asks if it's a sidewalk or a motorcycle or whatever right?

cloudflare bot detection has convinced itself I am a bot however (I do a lot of automated web related stuff on my home IP) and that's been an eye opener for sure... I can't enjoy a good 20% of the internet it seems like now.

Doesn't matter how many times I click that cloudflare button, they don't believe me.

And I've been signed in to my cloudflare account (which I've held in good standing with a live credit card for years) the entire time :/

johnnyApplePRNG··on There's a new "Google Jail" for independent wikis
It's essentially impossible to get any play at all from google search these days.

Doesn't matter how legitimate or real your site, service, or project looks.

Unless it's been online for at least 2 years, it's 99% probably AI slop spam and google would be risking their brand bending over backwards to try and index the majority of it.

That's my take, anyway.

johnnyApplePRNG··on Tell HN: OpenAI brings back 5 hour limit for plus and business standard users
That's the fever-dream that OpenAI et al is fraudulently marketing to their investors I suspect, yes.
johnnyApplePRNG··on Bill Gates tries to install MovieMaker (2003)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Beckerman graduated in 2001, although it says nothing of any employment at Microsoft on his Wikipedia page... so you might be right?
johnnyApplePRNG··on Bill Gates tries to install MovieMaker (2003)
Read it.

Stopped halfway through thinking "Damn, this Mike Beckerman is a piece of work. Doesn't understand English grammar let alone software development."

Looked him up...

>Michael Beckerman is an American lobbyist who is vice president at TikTok.

Not surprising at all.

johnnyApplePRNG··on An Alien Mind
Absolute trash marketing drivel.
johnnyApplePRNG··on South African diamond mines are closing due to weak sales and lab-grown stones
It would probably last 1,000 years, now.

Since nobody wants to buy them anymore.

johnnyApplePRNG··on Ask HN: Why were OpenAI, Claude, and Grok simultaneously down?
SOMETHING SOMETHING HITLER SOMETHING GROK
johnnyApplePRNG··on Actively exploited sandbox RCE in all Chromium versions
NIST probably had this one filed and ready to announce years ago

like those news agencies have obituaries of famous old people pre-written

johnnyApplePRNG··on Ask HN: Why were OpenAI, Claude, and Grok simultaneously down?
Nobody is swapping out Claude for Grok, bro.

Nobody.

johnnyApplePRNG··on GPT-6 Astra
I am so sour about how Codex has jerked me around these past few months (re all of the token limit shenanigans) that I don't even care.

I suspect these benchmarks are heavily benchmaxxed as well.

5.6 Sol was not even close to 5 Opus and yet somehow it sidled right up to it on all of the benchmarks?? pfffft

johnnyApplePRNG··on Ask HN: Why were OpenAI, Claude, and Grok simultaneously down?
Except that nobody has a grok subscription so that makes zero sense.
johnnyApplePRNG··on OpenAI begins rolling out GPT-6 Astra
Business as usual at the world's most intelligent corporation, I see.
johnnyApplePRNG··on Google Antigravity TOS: 3rd party usage can get Google account suspended
Is theo a paid shill for openai?

Because he's certainly coming off as such.

johnnyApplePRNG··on .name Termination
They deserve to lose their control of all domains over this.

This is ridiculous.

johnnyApplePRNG··on Muse Spark 1.3
thanks, google

... are you kidding me?!

posting an x.com link to a cheating benchmarking website?

get out

johnnyApplePRNG··on Gemini 3.8 Flash and 3.8 Flash Cyber
Why is it still such a bad coding agent? Does anybody have any insight?

I am continually impressed with Gemini's chat responses, which encourages me to test their agentic capabilities and... no... no... and no... every single time.

It's terrifying watching it, really.

johnnyApplePRNG··on [dead]
Good to know.

All tyrants should be shamed publicly.

johnnyApplePRNG··on Google Antigravity introduces Boost deep reasoning (/boost)
What's with all this AI spam for AI companies?! Seriously!?

Every single hour on HN it's OpenAI does this, Gemini does that.

It's all nothing.

Extra reasoning. Big whoop.

johnnyApplePRNG··on OpenClaw 2.0, Accidentally
Nothing afaict.

The term "AI Agents" has real sway over the general public, apparently.

It took the Cryptocurrency world by storm a few years ago.

All basically worthless "bot" stuff like hey this really expensive setup can interpret and reply to tweets in a way that no legal department could ever possibly approve kind of thing.

Apparently that was worth billions to investors. Until everybody realized nobody actually wanted or used one, lol.

johnnyApplePRNG··on GLM-5.3 is now open-weight
I am curious why you say that?

Not that I don't doubt the veracity of it.

Just curious if you have any proof?

johnnyApplePRNG··on 9th Circuit sides with states in Kalshi gambling fight
You think the states are the ones who care?

It's the regulated gambling corporations who are rattling their sabres right now.

johnnyApplePRNG··on OpenClaw 2.0, Accidentally
Nobody actually uses openclaw. [0]

It's all just marketing.

johnnyApplePRNG··on I co-founded Burning Man. The festival has lost its soul
Yea I wouldn't be caught dead going there today. Looks pretentious.
johnnyApplePRNG··on Debian votes to allow "responsible use of generative AI"
Do any of those people with a "very wide range of opionions on AI" actually use AI for programming at all?

Because it's perfect for that. Basically designed for it.

It's a tool. Like a calculator. Or a shovel.

You use it do get things done for you.

johnnyApplePRNG··on Our decision on Cursor following its acquisition by SpaceX
Except legally and structurally, he can't:

ITAR: SpaceX is strictly barred by US federal law from hiring non-US persons for aerospace engineering.

National Security Scrutiny: xAI operates under increasing US export and tech-transfer controls regarding China.

Scale: A private company's recruiting budget cannot compete with the sovereign industrial capacity and state-backed talent pipeline of an entire nation.

johnnyApplePRNG··on Our decision on Cursor following its acquisition by SpaceX
LOL

You had me until:

>The same could be true of a company run by a drug addict.

Elon Musk is nowhere near as capable as millions of intelligent developers in China.

johnnyApplePRNG··on 9th Circuit sides with states in Kalshi gambling fight
regulated entities mad at unregulated entities, nothing to see here, yawn
johnnyApplePRNG··on U.S. sanctions against the A/I Collective
Most likely a honeypot.
johnnyApplePRNG··on GLM-5.3 is now open-weight
It IS crazy to drop big money on any AI rig right now imho... the size of models and the cost to run them is falling through the floor as we speak.

I'm happy with all of the competition in the APIs on openrouter... I watch that like I used to watch the stock markets, lol. It's great fun.
