Nothing says "I love you" like a template email.
jnye131··on Starbucks Commitment to the UK | Starbucks Coffee Company
brilliant, one blog post not to have comments on if ever there was.
jnye131··on Great use of .xxx domain (Safe for work link)
Yep it's titled "Food Porn" - and look to have just photos of food.
jnye131··on Europe's Square
For transactions in the UK the merchant can also take a signature for low value transactions on a chip and pin card. There is more risk with this though.
jnye131··on Ask HN: Where is Square payments or equivalent for the UK?
Fantastic, thanks for that, I'd completely missed it.
jnye131··on Demonstrating responsive design to clients.
I'll pass that on, see if it can be done.
jnye131··on Demonstrating responsive design to clients.
It's actually a great tool for demonstrating to clients what you mean by responsive website design
jnye131··on Will Mountain Lion be Free?
Yeah for sure Apple make their margin, but I don't believe that they look for margin on every single item they ship. I'm convinced it's a more holistic approach to profit.

iOS updates being free is an example, OS X being sold for a 10th of the price of competing operating systems is another. They are willing to lose money on a single item if it makes more money in the longterm.

jnye131··on Who do you use for app UI translation?
icanlocalize.com is who I use. I pay for the additional review afterwards so I get everything double checked. Seems to work ok, and is inexpensive.

This isn't new or surprising. Working as an iPhone contractor you get asked to do this sort of stuff all the time. Companies that give something away for free want your data. Simple.

If someone was going to audit all the popular social apps in the app store I'm sure that the vast majority would behave in exactly the same way.

jnye131··on Business Insider responds to Marco's complaints about scraping
The time taken to investigate this really was time spent trying to spin it in the right way. All that talk of stub pages that are not supposed to be read, rubbish. No follow attributes being added to links, well how about no-index meta tags. Only that will have a negative impact with google so they wouldn't want to do that.

Utter BS that whole article.

jnye131··on Firefox 6 already? Mozilla please stop this game
@nolok got it right, plugin stability is incredibly important to users. It's also demoralising as a plugin developer if you have to spend most of your development time testing compatibility. Mozilla need to find a balance between a fast upgrade cycle and maintaing stability for plugins. At the moment I think things have moved to far from the glacial 2.x -> 3.0 to the flash flood like 4+ upgrades. Maybe it just needs adjusting a little.
