jkahrs595··on AirPods 5
They don’t have the squishy silicone, but you sound so confident! Tim Apple or his replacement aren’t giving you any prizes for your shilling, it’s ok to like Apple products and see how stupid their marketing is.
jkahrs595··on I'm sorry, you're not going to die from an AI-engineered supervirus
Madagascar will be safe
jkahrs595··on AirPods 5
Two separate models from Huawei have swipe volume controls (freearc and freeclip). I’m not a earbud guru but my $25 anker buds have tap to hold volume controls (not swipe, I’m sure Apple is being specific for a reason), but no matter how you move the goalposts it’s a ridiculous claim.
jkahrs595··on Flock Wants a Closely Surveilled World with No Exit
In what way is going through a military/police checkpoint while driving ordinary?
jkahrs595··on ChatGPT Images 2.5

jkahrs595··on LibreOffice breaks download records after declaring it has no AI features
Explains the download records as well
jkahrs595··on Global warming will exceed 1.5-degree limit, UN says
Wow great thanks for the intelligent reply
jkahrs595··on Your intellectual fly is open when you use an LLM to author a post (2025)
> Not all writing is thinking

Would love an example where you’re able to write without transferring your thoughts. Besides the obvious: fjcjfjrnjfjfifjfnrnakosifnrbwkofgjrj

jkahrs595··on You Don't Have a Right to Safe Drinking Water, US Court Rules
Neckbeards arguing semantics of language, it’s like I never left Reddit.
jkahrs595··on Music Theory for Programmers
This is more “synthesizers for programmers” than “music theory for programmers”.
jkahrs595··on Global warming will exceed 1.5-degree limit, UN says
Yeah people never haul anything with trucks for work
jkahrs595··on Global warming will exceed 1.5-degree limit, UN says
Don’t forget eating meat, the easiest thing to stop doing (people needs cars and trucks for work, they don’t need cheeseburgers). People can’t be bothered to make any changes, it’s always someone else’s problem.

jkahrs595··on Three sites made 215,128 “best software” pages for AI. Perplexity cites them
I’m so happy to see the negative Perplexity posts today. I felt like I was taking crazy pills hearing people think this service was at all useful/trustworthy.
jkahrs595··on Dr. Melvin Scheinman: 40th Anniversary of Catheter Ablation
Whoa hold on. I’ve been diagnosed with WPW and my doctor told me there was nothing to worry about (10-12 years ago).

Now I’m flipping my shit a bit, I’ve never heard any mention of this disorder outside of my discussion with the doctor until this very moment.

My symptoms include an occasional fast heart beat out of nowhere (lasts maybe 20-30 seconds), but that’s about it.

What are the circumstances in which the surgery is recommended?

jkahrs595··on Movie Scene Map – 13,312 films, series, games, anime and manga
Escanaba in da Moonlight

Escanaba, Michigan

Is missing!?

jkahrs595··on Hang on to Your Firefox
I use Zen (firefox under the hood) and I just don't understand all of the bitching people do about Firefox. Once I learned all about manifest v2 deprecation it was such an easy decision to move away from Chromium based browsers. The transition was one of the most painless things I've ever done in the software world.

Literally what is the issue?

jkahrs595··on Has early Scratch experience led to fulfilling careers?
This is like asking if anyone in the Tour de France has credited training wheels for their success.

I would never credit my Visual Basic class in middle school for my career but it did introduce me to a lot of things I didn’t know about before, and certainly wasn’t a net negative.

jkahrs595··on LLMs are making me lose my savviness
Just stop using them ffs. So sick of this “we lost the craft” nonsense. Just do it the way you like doing it.
jkahrs595··on Air Theremin – a browser theremin you play by waving at your webcam
> pedantically rigid

My original comment was perfectly reasonable…

Sorry if asking clarifying questions about your hypothetical app seems to have hit a nerve.

jkahrs595··on Air Theremin – a browser theremin you play by waving at your webcam
Phone stands exist!?

We were talking about an app hence my comment on usability. Now we’re discussing something entirely different.

jkahrs595··on Air Theremin – a browser theremin you play by waving at your webcam
Both front/rear cameras simultaneously? How would that work? You’d either have to have it balancing upright, or hold it in your mouth or something else awkward no?
jkahrs595··on Babies born under sugar rationing grew into adults with lower cancer risk
Holy bad faith argument
jkahrs595··on Launch HN: machine0 (YC S26) – Persistent CPU and GPU VMs from the CLI
“We charge by the minute!”

Makes me mental math how much they actually charge per minute.

jkahrs595··on Nvidia dramatically reduces amount of OpenAI infra financing it may guarantee
Workloads will inflate just as they have been. Remember when llm assisted development used to be good only for a function, then a whole file, then a handful of files, then a code base, then a full stack, etc etc etc.

People will claim to have “enough” even though they already have the equivalent of last years capabilities locally.

jkahrs595··on Beef and dairy drive 41% of biodiversity damage linked to global farmland
Ironic you advocate people kill themselves after claiming life isn’t worth living if you can’t have meat or milk.

As the kids say: no u.

jkahrs595··on OpenAI’s head of ethics leaves less than a year after joining
> The only difference is AI isn’t regulated

Seems extremely obvious that this is exactly why the food industry doesn’t dissolve its regulatory team?

jkahrs595··on The brain may be about to have its Ozempic moment
If I’m on morphine is my leg even still broken?
jkahrs595··on Taxi drivers rarely die of Alzheimer's
Not strange when you realize thinking is also physical.
jkahrs595··on Taste Is All That's Left
No, that’s my whole point. I would not stop. If someone tries to attribute malice to something I do that has none, I might explain to them how misguided they are, but I’m not going to give in just because someone can’t be bothered to understand context.

I think it’s fine to use as one of many signals to identify AI (not the only) but, again, avoiding its use is not going to solve anything.

jkahrs595··on Taste Is All That's Left
Th emdash is not something I use ever (before or after AI slop), but telling people not to use it because it’s associated with slop is not the way.

It’s like when people tried to tell everyone to stop using the ok symbol with their hands because a small group of hateful fucks pretended it meant something else. It only switches meaning if you let it, and stop using it yourself.

What happens when AI adopts something else? Do we give that up too?

With all of that said, this guy is definitely AI lol. He’s gotta be trolling us by doubling down.
