I recall NordVPN on iOS used to do that and I took it as a norm. Perhaps a year ago after few iOS and apps, I noticed that not only the time takes for connecting dropped, the drop rate also decreased a lot.

May I suggest ability to have simple E2E encryption, so you, the service provider aren't aware of the shared content, thus can reduce legal complications.

Example:

* Have a encryption key generated on client side

* Share link will becomes http://txti.es/{POST_ID}/{E2E_KEY}

* You, as service provider, only stores POST_ID and its encrypted content.

* Link sharer passes the complete URL around, which contains the key to unlock the content

* Content are fetched and decrypt on client side

I'm quite curious to know if there's a place people chat about what they want after Reddit?

I would like to think, for Tencent, it is a foot in the door.

Perhaps nothing concrete are to come out from this investment (besides its performance), but it is an opportunity cost, and IF the opportunities aligns where one day Tencent able to act/pressure Reddit, it is already a win on multiple levels.

To me, the biggest revelation out of this news was actually finding out both BitBucket and GitLab already offers unlimited free private repos. I am now highly incentivised to move away from self-hosted git server in order to store my micro project repos which are heading to 3 digits.
