Yeah. Find ways to generate excitement on your side and actively seek it on a regular basis.
For me, in this phase I'm in, it's talking to entrepeneurs which really does help. I guess it's also about a supportive environment. Family and friends, people who believe in you and lift you up.
That's quite disturbing.

EDIT: I'm with spacemonkey (referring to how joomla manages it): http://apeatling.wordpress.com/2010/07/14/thesis-and-the-gpl...

In this sense, Lastpass (passwords stored online) or Roboform (passwords stored locally) is imho better in that it makes it easy to use secure, one-time passwords for each website.
good times.
It's probably more important to just getting something done in the first place. You can probably rewrite when you get some revenue.
I guess he has a point in that there are problems that have to be dealt with and you should go peak into unknown areas from time to time, but generally, I think I have to disagree based on the stuff I learned from PG. Also, I don't like his tone. It's not quite written as a rant but sure sounds like one.
With a bit of luck there'll come a startup with said friend out of this later this year.
He wrote this a few days before the bust.

Only theoretically yet, though, since linux users probably feel the greatest pain there.
Anyways, best of luck! I'll be testing when a linux client is available :-)
They'll have much less work than Google Docs in convincing users to use it. meh.
Every bit of value a myspace profile might have is destroyed by a crappy design, misused fields, "thanks for the add" messages and just plain advertisement anywhere else.
We have nice stuff out there already, Soundcloud (nice player), Last.fm (band info), Bandcamp (most awesome sales platform)... I'm unexpressable eager to see someone creating the myspace killer with them.
