jefozabuss··on xAI announces series B funding round of $6B
The ones that you quoted bring the money not the technical foundation.
jefozabuss··on Stripe increasing "instant payout" fees by 50%
I'd guess advertisers might like this feature as they could do:

- Buy ads targeting your page selling stuff (for example a course) - Generate revenue - Instant payout - Repeat

In this flow you don't need to wait 1 month for a payout so you are not limited doing this once a month, you can do this for example 12 times a month therefore generating much more revenue.

jefozabuss··on Show HN: I built a website to create financial models for any stock online
Likely the people who downvoted have no experience with the legal part of stock related discussions/tools (implied expectations/suggestions, etc), there is a reason why you see "not a financial advice" and other legal texts presented in videos discussing stocks.

Also there is no real company / person mentioned as an owner at least on the website so the privacy policy is kind of a "trust me bro".

jefozabuss··on Show HN: Open Source TailwindCSS UI Components
I think for an average landing page / small shop it's perfectly fine. They can go online faster with tools like this.

For more complex projects you'd tweak the components of course but it helps a lot that you can see the whole blocks rendered in advance and can prototype way faster this way.

jefozabuss··on Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang announces new AI chips: ‘We need bigger GPUs’
When he had that slide up with generating everything I was kind of expecting that he'd say this whole keynote is generated including him. That'd have been crazy.
jefozabuss··on Netlify just sent me a $104k bill for a simple static site
If you want to sleep tight just get a dedicated server or VPS from something like Hetzner and/or combine with CDN providers like BunnyCDN - set up alerts just in case though. It takes more time and resources to manage it but you could save a lot on it in this case.
jefozabuss··on Netlify just sent me a $104k bill for a simple static site
Just something to keep in mind: this also has about half of additional bandwidth costs (above 100GB) of the reddit post, so in your case you'd be billed for ~$57k or so with similar DDOS. At least they seem to provide monitoring/alerts based on their Security page.
jefozabuss··on The Ladybird browser project
Not to mention the number of possible vulnerabilities that will be needed to be pentested and fixed.
jefozabuss··on [dead]
This blog post feels like the couple 1000 others or so medium posts we've seen in the past few years mostly around Array functions from web developers trying to boost their socials.

I likely wouldn't have pointed this out if OP wouldn't have used HN so far as a link directory.

jefozabuss··on Tell HN: GoDaddy Stole My Domain
Not sure if they are the best but I'm also a Dynadot costumer for ~15 years and had no problems reactivating expired domains (happened mostly due to forgetting I don't have enough balance prepaid in my account and the emails going to spam for some reason)
jefozabuss··on Why do people post on [bad platform] instead of [good platform]?
But did you know 99% of the people cannot solve these 2 math operations on these 3 sets of match sticks?

Linkedin feed is turning into somehing like a 9gag of rehashed memes.

jefozabuss··on Global carbon markets overcredit cookstove greenhouse gas reductions by 10
There are gains but not that astronomical when switching diets to vegan/vegetarian (based on googling carbon footprint with diet comparisons), looking at stats the major emission problems are due to beef consumption, likely the numbers would be way better with poultry consumption instead of beef in these calculations.

Also simply with the world population increasing if everyone would switch to vegan diet we'd still reach these emission numbers just a little bit later.

I wonder if methane/carbon capture projects will eventually "monkeypatch" this issue or not.

jefozabuss··on LoaderShip – CSS-Only Loaders
Sometimes I see additional messages pop up next to loaders after certain times passed. Personally if I load from multiple endpoints at the same time I usually add a ##% in the middle of my loading circle calculated based on total and ongoing requests.
jefozabuss··on Tell HN: Me as solo developer – first year revenue revealed
I kind of find it sad that you still need an app in 2023 for these features as most of these are built into Win10 for like 8 years now.
jefozabuss··on Privacy is priceless, but Signal is expensive
2M in comp distributed between 4 people is not a lot at this scale in my opinion.
jefozabuss··on iLeakage: Browser-Based Timerless Speculative Execution Attacks on Apple Devices
I think it's not that hard to pull this off as you can disguise this with a "social login" feature. E.g. imagine a website promoting raffles / free prizes if you log in with fb/insta/etc, there are way too many gullible users who'd use these pages.

I'd not be surprised if accounts used in troll farms /bots/ are stolen this way.

jefozabuss··on Nue.js: Rethinking Reactivity
It's using the event listener properties like "onclick" or "onload" as "@" gets replaced with "on" in the code from what I see so you will have this more oldschool event handling: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Learn/JavaScript/Bu...

it also has some additional things here:https://github.com/nuejs/nuejs/blob/a5c844494852cdbe3282fdc5... so might not work the same way, didn't spend much time to check it just a glance.

jefozabuss··on Bandcamp has been sold to Songtradr. What does this mean for the musicians?
didn't want to create an issue on github for this but just looked at it and seems to have a duplicated PUID setting (the 2nd should be PGID I guess) in entrypoint.sh
jefozabuss··on Unlimited Kagi searches for $10 per month
As you mentioned they don't track (for now).

I mean anyone can write anything into a privacy policy and who will enforce they are sticking to them really? Usually we only see what actually happens in the background when there is a breach.

For financial systems we have regular audits so rules like PCI DSS are enforced, but do we have these for search systems?

jefozabuss··on Starlink quietly lost over $250M in burned satellites this summer
Be careful googling this if you have a weak resistance to incremental games like I do as some hours will fly by quicky...
jefozabuss··on Ask HN: What is the best way to build a desktop app in Windows in 2023?
Last time I used it it was with Turbo Pascal probably 18-19 years ago. It was a really decent IDE, nice to see it's still around.
jefozabuss··on [Broken - Undeployed] Show HN: AI Judges Your Spotify
We need an AI that judges AI apps so we can go full circle and judge itself as well
jefozabuss··on Eye scans detect signs of Parkinson’s disease up to seven years before diagnosis
My friend's grandmother's hand started shaking badly eating soup and she got bedridden due to a fall in their home, 1 year later she started calling her daughter "nurse" because she didn't recognize her and passed away not too long after due to heart failure. I really hope they will find a treatment to this disease eventually.
jefozabuss··on Illustrated JavaScript coding course for absolute beginners [pdf]
it introduces variables on the 93th slide and uses the site's functions until then. I'd say it's more like an illustrated codeguppy js course than a general js course.

I think if your market is mostly kids it might be easier for them to be able to click on the shapes/sprites and have the parameters UI open up for that clicked object as you get used to this in many apps. E.g. they could tweak the parameters "x, y, size, fill, etc" and see real time how the code changed. Or have the parameter name hover over the parameter like in some jetbrains products.

jefozabuss··on Booking.com halts payments to hosts over IT technical maintenance
I use booking.com and I seem to pay about half the time at the hotels, so you can technically just pay at checkout at the hotel if you choose ones with that option.
jefozabuss··on Europeans Are Becoming Poorer
Speaking of Vienna: is anyone here who work from there remotely (for a non-Austrian company)? I heard it's a bit complicated due to you need to have an in-country representation of the company or similar.
jefozabuss··on 6 days to change 1 line of code (2015)
sounds like a security and audit nightmare to be honest but I guess it’s an agency or similar with smaller projects
jefozabuss··on Noticing when an app is only hosted in us-east-1
Modules are widely supported now for js which means you could have 100 modules = 100 files instead of 1 bundle of 100 modules = 1 file, obviously this is not "the most ideal" but it allows you to skip a build step. There are also frameworks like Astro that splits your pages into tiny pieces so there are definitely some ways to add a lot of requests
jefozabuss··on Show HN: Non.io, a Reddit-like platform Ive been working on for the last 4 years
As someone who dealt with payment iframes in SPAs I'm so happy I don't have to use any iframes nowadays. There are a few articles how you can "kind of track" when the iframe caused extra history entries then you need to increase your back navigation by the count of them, it was a mess back in the days so not sure how is it solved nowadays.
jefozabuss··on Conic Finance
I only trust web3 pump'n'dumps if their website looks web3 as well
