Don't tamper with my Internet please.
With dynamic languages like JS and ActionScript, their approach is to fingerprint 10 different strains of the same threat. Then the 11th strain can be generated in a few seconds with new obfuscation.
So the A/V only starts working if/when eventually a native code payload reaches the target.
The Google Safebrowsing report [1] appears fairly ambiguous though:
"Site is listed as suspicious - visiting this web site may harm your computer (...)"
"Of the 12029 pages we tested on the site over the past 90 days, 0 page(s) resulted in malicious software being downloaded and installed without user consent. The last time Google visited this site was on 2012-12-30, and suspicious content was never found on this site within the past 90 days."

How does caching works? Is there any focus on security? Multiple geolocations?

Then it's a question of volume to reach higher tiers / lower costs, and/or getting enough funding to sustain low margins at launch.
Twilio has both the volume and the funding. Hopefully Plivo can differentiate through innovation.
You seem to imply that setting high prices is a dishonest practice. If you don't find enough value to justify the high cost, just move on, that might not be true for others.
