jazzpush2··on Hundreds missing and many feared dead after flash flood hits Nepal-China border
Absolutely insane videos coming out. I actually thought some were AI-generated when I first saw them.
jazzpush2··on GLM-5.3-Flash
It was certainly almost RL-fried to overfit the benchmarks, at the expense of actual usability. See Opus 5.
jazzpush2··on Oceans hit highest temperature on record
"all the issues" - which issues exactly? It didn't explain any of the contributing issues at all - it was a think piece on motivations for lack of action.

To answer your question: literally every linked YouTube video.

jazzpush2··on Perplexity Portable Computer
Just let Perplexity die already.
jazzpush2··on Anthropic Sees over $30T in Potential Revenue
You can review my post history to see I'm not astroturfing. I don't know what else to say except continue coping. Try searching 'opus 5' on twitter to see what a shit show that model is.
jazzpush2··on Anthropic Sees over $30T in Potential Revenue
I have completed stopped using Anthropic since Kimi 3 released, and only ever K3 and Codex nowadays. I pay for K3, and get Codex and Claude free from work. Almost everyone I know prefers Codex to Claude.
jazzpush2··on Oceans hit highest temperature on record
This was a fun, light read, but nowhere near 'best', hardly more than a fun opinion piece, and even then it completely ignored relevant topics (class inequality at foot, performative climate action [taylor swift], disparate impacts).
jazzpush2··on Israel creates fake think tank in likely attempt to dupe AI chatbots
You really can't think of any current events that would make this top-of-mind? Nothing over the last ~2 years?
jazzpush2··on Israel creates fake think tank in likely attempt to dupe AI chatbots
What do you mean by 'Jew hatred' - can you be specific? How is it different than criticism of Israel? How is it different than criticism of American-Israel relations?
jazzpush2··on How Claude's text watermarking works
Anthropic: doing everything they can to own any output they produce/prevent scrubbing of association for them - except when it comes to the CEO's wife's porn funding attempt from Epstein: https://www.wsj.com/tech/ai/claude-dario-amodei-wife-anthrop...
jazzpush2··on CEO who fired 900 people on Zoom just before Christmas wants his job back
You read this from the outside and ask yourself, "how does this guy sleep at night?". He sleeps fine, of course, justifying his own actions/behaviors without thinking of others.

Luigi Mangione spent months trying to contact someone at United Healthcare to no avail. Only when he pretended to be an investor managing a large number of assets did he hear a response.

jazzpush2··on OpenAI’s head of ethics leaves less than a year after joining
These are the DEI jobs of the modern era. Cost centers with employees that get rich contributing less than nothing to the company, actively harming the researchers, while writing bs/fluff on twitter all day.
jazzpush2··on Taste Is All That's Left
'Intentional anonymity is perfectly tasteful.' - what? This statement is exactly the kind of hollow, meaningless fluff that gets passed around as wisdom, but means nothing. Taste is not the act, it's how the act is done.
jazzpush2··on Xbox goes down. You can't play games you own on disc
Microsoft harder is good? Relative to what?

Xbox, the topic of discussion, is literally famous for a 'red ring' hardware failure.

jazzpush2··on Xbox goes down. You can't play games you own on disc
I had a similar experience this weekend. Some friends got together, one got the new Halo campaign, and we looked forward to playing co-op, like the good ol' days.

Well, adding a screensplit co-op now requires a log-in, which requires a phone to register via a QR code, which, after about 5 minutes of trying, completely failed. So we just turned it off and played Catan.

jazzpush2··on Our position on open-weights models
Which of those aren't related to regulation? Preventing Chinese models from entering our market? Using boogeyman 'distillation' as a means to target competitors? Point 3 is literally about ADDING regulation.

Please elucidate things clearly for everyone else.

jazzpush2··on Our position on open-weights models
1. We should not sell powerful chips or chipmaking equipment to China, and we should crack down on the rampant smuggling and workarounds used to obtain access to such chips.

Regulate others, but not us, please. And f.u. Jensen for your tweet.

2. We should crack down on industrial-scale distillation operations.

Boogeyman to still not allow Chinese models but pretend to support open-weights. Also, please ignore our distillation of research, illegally. That's different!

3. All sufficiently capable models, open and closed, should go through mandatory safety testing.

...That we author. Oh, and please ignore our own easing-of-guardrails when it comes to money: https://x.com/NoahLebovic/status/2081277517709922501

jazzpush2··on What if LLMs escape through inferences itself? This is fiction. For now
Of course the amount of effort is relevant - that's exactly what's being discussed. Your entire "Work smart, not hard." phrasing is exactly the issue: with AI, your 'smart' work causes 'hard' review from others. AI fundamentally imbalances the producer/consumer equation. (The caveats here are when trust is already established: I trust AI review from Carmack, not some random on HN.)

If it takes you two prompts to create a 1 million line PR, and you expect me to review it, of course I'll be upset and feel like you don't value my time. I'm unsure why this is so hard to communicate.

jazzpush2··on What if LLMs escape through inferences itself? This is fiction. For now
If you expect my effort to read your work, I expect your effort to write it.

Really that simple.

jazzpush2··on Ask HN: What are your favorite blogs not about AI?

jazzpush2··on Apple targets dozens of OpenAI employees with legal letters
He has no taste anymore. He was right once, made too much money, and lost touch with everything. Now he's a tasteless boomer.
jazzpush2··on Grok Build is open source
Ok, but what if all Whatsapp competitors explicitly banned the ability to groom children on their platform, but Whataspp didn't, and directly advertised it.
jazzpush2··on Mawlynnong, India, transformed by tourism, bans visitors on Sundays
Reading the title generates imagery of a city in Japan being overrun by foreigners.

The actual content is about a self-proclaimed 'Asia's cleanest village' in India, banning Sunday visits from other domestic Indians.

Probably wouldn't be a popular story if this was revealed in the title.

jazzpush2··on Counting ArXiv Delays
Yes, the daly time recently is absolutely ridiculous. Been waiting on a preprint that's already been accepted in a top journal for seemingly no reason.
jazzpush2··on Grok 4.5
And who do you go to when you have a medical issue? Surely not a doctor/hospital, since you're so anti-credentialism.
jazzpush2··on Goodebye Forever Probably: Why I’m leaving developer relations
A lot of DevRel seems to fail/get a poor reputation because the individual seems more focused on making themselves the center of attention/launching their influencer career versus actually trying to help others use their product.

This seems more true the more prestigious the company you work for is, as you get free prestige without having gone through the grind to get in as a SWE/Researcher.

jazzpush2··on Claude Fable 5 Promotional Access
Completely fails for anything bio-related. What a joke.
jazzpush2··on Meta Pauses Employee-Tracking Program Following Internal Data Leak
By your logic, a man who murders someone with a Smith & Wesson is just as culpable as someone who owns some shares of $SWBI.

I'll repeat myself: what a mindset!

jazzpush2··on Show HN: I made Google Trends for Hacker News by indexing 18 years of comments
This is a great project. It'd be fun to look at some of the more popular startups over time, both those that ended up successful and those that didn't.
jazzpush2··on Exploring the internal representations of Pangram 3.3.2
Hoping for a follow-up with Sparse Autoencoders.
