Most of the iOS ui SpringBoard bugs are due to them rewriting the codes in Swift. Many Autolayout bug. Music app can’t even align the play button at center. Also Craig Federighi is busy with Siri, and busy shooting down Note 8 in social media. I was annoyed when the text replacement bug took one beta to solve, where the Calculator bug took 5 or 6 releases to solve. And the third reason is they expect users will actively test iOS for them. With so many bugs surfaced in media and in released version, my guess is no one is telling them the bugs during beta. Another reason is iPhone X is iPhone fragmentation with different home screen UI. You’re are right this will introduce complexity to the code base. I’m thankful for the touchbar in MacBook Pro and the notch design in X, both I dislike. This make me realise the many good points in other platform. Sort of like bursting my Apple fanboy bubble.
This is not a switch from Intel to ARM for Mac, but a ARM coprocessor in Mac similar to new MacBook Pro that handles the Touchbar and Secure Enclave for TouchID. Apple don't even like the idea of touch interface for Mac apps, so its unlikely they will open up running of iOS apps on the Mac.
Curious to see if new Mac from now onwards will still support TouchID as Apple has said that they are abandoning Touch ID on the iPhone. Makes no sense to support TouchID on just one platform, the minor one.
AWS China announced yesterday Lambda and API Gateway are available: https://www.amazonaws.cn/en/new/2017/. Interestingly these news are not published in the AWS dot com whats new page but they did tweet about it.
Aliyun has been around for sometimes, and is now rebrand as Alibaba Cloud and expanding beyond China. It is competing with AWS, Google Cloud, Azure etc. And this August report says Alibaba Cloud has surpassed Digital Ocean to be number 2 in hosting. https://news.netcraft.com/archives/2017/08/22/cloud-wars-ali...
Singles Day sales is a few times bigger than Black Friday or anything Amazon has. Kind of strange to ask if Alibaba Cloud can scale as AWS.
Best solution is for MS to buy one of Linux distro (Ubuntu) and release a version of Windows with Linux core. Or for Google to release a full fledge OS for Pixelbook.
He has over 100 movies and 5 decades of works. His many movies in 80s, 90s are major blockbusters in Hong Kong, Taiwan, South East Asia, the reason he can have Hollywood movies. His movies in the last 10 years are not major sellers but they're only one or two lemons. He is still pulling in the crowd in China. And his movies are still shown during peak Chinese New Year CNY in China, indicating investors confidence. Most stars in China wants their movies shown during this CNY period. He owns film studio, and you can go watch a movie in "Jackie Chan" branded theatres in China. Most film deals he struck are based on % of movie revenue. He is more business man than an actor. Are you serious in doubting his wealth?
With that price you get "twice as powerful as the latest MacBook Pro. ...up to 17 hours of video playback. That’s 70% more than the latest MacBook Pro."
Need a library sdk for a Dynamo Sync feature to allow easy development of offline mobile apps. Similar function to Cognito Sync. Also hope that AWS will release a serverless SQL db. And cheaper price.
My guess is it will be called iPhone X Series 2. Also iPhone 8/8 Plus next year will change to "iPhone" and "iPhone Plus". All follow the same Apple Watch naming as they can't have iPhone 10/iPhone 10 Plus. They keep the "8" this year probably for the hope to gain market share in China as people there like the number "8".
Simpler. Have standard router, Vuex store, so no need to choose which router to use, Redux or Mobx etc. Compatible with web components. Standard way of creating plugins/middleware and project templates. VueJS is more of a framework than React's view component. No 'concern' over the licensing. Use JSX or not is up to you. Smaller size. My bet is VueJS is likely to be the next JQuery. I switch from React and life is better.
Sorry don't meant to be rude and I understand there are tens of thousands of technologies to detect. Kind of expecting your engine to be able to detect front end JS frameworks easier than backends, at least for those popular JS frameworks. In case you not notice the site I'm pointing to is the home page of VueJS and you're showing them using a competitor tech.
Facebook most likely is guarding it for strategic reason. My guess is it will built something like Expo into its Facebook/Messenger app, then it can have its own native app, games store without going through Apple. This is something WeChat already is running called mini-apps.
Discovery for new content/people to follow on Twitter's iOS app (Explore tab) is appallingly bad. Its astonishing that they made so little improvement in this area after so many years. Its sad when you compare with what you get on Weibo, its China clone.
As much as I want PWA to rule, web apps still give a noticeable lousy experience than native especially social apps with large feeds (Facebook, Twitter). After so many decades chasing the native experience, it appears HTML/CSS/DOM needs to be revamped/replaced in order for some hope. Maybe a brand new UX library build on top of web assembly? A cross-platform user interface library on top of Unity/Unreal Engine? Why must web apps rely on browser in order to run? If there is a UX component to docker/container, does it provide similar security mechanism as a browser? Maybe this world is not meant to have only one language/UX library/delivery mechanism for apps.
React Native under the hood uses Obj-C to bridge to native Cocoa frameworks. For example when you uses a <View> tag in JavaScript, it ends up calling iOS UIView.
AWS has its own Serverless Application Model (SAM) https://github.com/awslabs/serverless-application-model released last Oct. Rather than learning another framework, you'd use the same CloudFormation yaml syntax to define your stack and apps. It simplifies calling Lambda functions by providing a higher level abstraction triggers called Events. This makes it simpler to create Lambda functions for Rest API, Cron schedule, IoT devices, create Alexa skills, response to S3 events etc. Then its just "aws cloudformation package" and "aws cloudformation deploy" to create and update your app. It appears AWS team is learning the best from Serverless Framework. If you not mind the vendor lockin, SAM is the way to go. Serverless Framework has the promise of using the same tool against AWS Lambda, Google/Azure Functions and IBM OpenWhisk.
Bluetooth is not listed in the spec (I only looked at Nokia 6), but scroll down product page further on accessory section there is a wireless headphone. So I guess Bluetooth is standard.
I guess you can only do this when you're not dependent on App Store income or you're big. Tencent has a top hit mobile game 皇者荣耀 that is only Android. They can afford due to China market. Both Facebook Messenger & WeChat has no integration to iOS 10 CallKit and Siri.
One "issue" with Realm React Native client is that the data model and Realm server sync is orthogonal to Redux, which has its own data flow pattern. Is there any work to make Realm client compatible with Redux?
