This might actually be useful!
jason2323··on Ask HN: Has it suddenly become exceedingly hard to attract full-time employees?
Me as well. I absolutely enjoy reading technical books and working on some projects. I feel competent enough to produce good work at any company i go to, but the thought of wasting my weekends away on puzzles is harrowing

jason2323··on Excel Never Dies
lol. One of my observations from my experience at startups : if you want to create a B2B SaaS company, convert a company’s spreadsheets into a webapp and voila!

jason2323··on Algorithms by Jeff Erickson
In my experience these actually didn’t do a great job of explaining things like dynamic programming. I prefer Kleinberg and Tardos
jason2323··on Ask HN: What is your approach to reading a code repo for the first time?
Oh i can answer this! Usually the best way to start off is to read the unit tests if they have any. This can usually point to what the code is trying to achieve if anything. Gives you a view of what methods are being used and for what purpose.

I'm actually curious on the effects of this on international students who come to the US to study CS. One of the biggest reasons international students come to the US is to be able to live and work after graduation. If anything, this will deter international students from studying in the US, thus reducing much needed out-of-state revenue that colleges get from international students, which consequently only raises the costs for in-state students. I see the point of this rule, but I'd be interested in seeing the tertiary effects of it as well.
jason2323··on Twitter, TikTok Have Held Preliminary Talks About Possible Combination
Amazing

This isnt strictly true. Although gay/trans rights are not recognized by law, there is no real enforcement of the law itself. People are to some degree free to do/be as they please. As for non-muslims, it hasnt ever been an issue - there are churches and hindu temples around as well.

jason2323··on Firefox Better Web with Scroll
I fear this could create website silos. Where certain webpages can only be accessed by a given browser because visits from that browser could be more profitable than running ads. But this is probably a long shot...
jason2323··on Ask HN: On a scale from 1-10, how ugly was your MVP?
It was about a 4.5 for me. We had a product that was very barebones but it did what it promised

jason2323··on Ask HN: Document Management for Startups
We built an internal system where we place all to-be-scanned documents into a tray and have everything scanned once a week. We wrote cron jobs that execute every night to upload the documents into our S3 bucket. But we don’t have software that makes it searchable yet
jason2323··on Why Millennials Keep Dumping You: An Open Letter to Forbes Management
This reminds me of that Simon Sinek vidéo that talks about how millennials want to “make a difference” 10 months into their job (ironically, this is kinda what the author in the article alludes to). You’re bluffing yourself if you think you can make a difference just a few months out of college, without adequate experience under your belt.
