Also, I know somebody who is just starting out at coding. Would it be too hard for them? They are brand new, learning about loops
IMO, ads are probably the least worrisome way the data could be used. A boring but scary example is that aol search history leak (which is still searchable today):
This person is identified by name for example: https://searchids.com/user/19431784-joann_whitman
Then again, you can’t use subscription software at all after the company completely moves on either - no windows 95 compatibility mode to keep using your expensive desktop applications. So you still end up with unusable software eventually - longer peak but a shorter life for more cost
The fundamental problem is how difficult and expensive it is to make software and maintain it year after year
I really love working in Godot, it’s a wonderful and fast program. It is tedious to find how something works however because the docs are pretty sparse and the tutorial community is so small. It can take forever to find the function you need to call for something, or what the limitations of something like tilemaps are
I also miss the python libraries and procedures I’m used to (it uses a python inspired custom language called gdscript)
I’m going to try it for a larger project later this year and see how painful it ends up being to figure things out. It’s a really great program for everything I do know how to do
It links to a Savannah page that links to gnunet.org
Eg, Reddit, forums, stack overflow (sometimes), YouTube, etc
The YT comments also note that he never mentions the end of the computer age in the talk.
