jamieomatthews··on GitHub Is Your Resume Now (2012)
This is somewhat unrelated, but wouldn't it be nice if there was a tool that would let you connect with Github, choose 3 or 4 of your favorite projects, and it would generate a cool looking resume/site for you? Does this already exist??
jamieomatthews··on Hack: a new programming language for HHVM
At least go says in their official docs, when posting/searching for the language, use "Golang"
jamieomatthews··on No JSON/MAPS interoperability in 17.0?
This does look pretty cool. I think the author is forgetting about so many reasons why JSON is so widely used, however.

One huge benefit of JSON over msgpack or something similar is READABILITY.

jamieomatthews··on Go for Objective-C developers
Great article! I'd like to see a part 2 to this article where you go a bit more in depth into some differences, with examples of both golang code and objectiv-c code. Thanks!
jamieomatthews··on Silly Rabbit... Frameworks are for Prototypes
I like the article, some nice points.

I think mostly, you want to always know what the limitations of your framework are, and never be afraid to dive into the source of the framework to see why certain things are slow/buggy, etc. If you can do this, you will be in much better shape than 75% of the users using that framework.

jamieomatthews··on Font Awesome 4.0 Released - faster selectors, less code, & better compatibility
I wouldn't worry too much about being on Font Awesome 3, most of the changes are purely semantic.
jamieomatthews··on FastImageCache – iOS library for quickly displaying images while scrolling
Whats the difference between this and SDWebImage, if any?? I cant see a ton of different API differences. Looks like this probably wont support ARC, though.
jamieomatthews··on [dead]
This should be renamed to iOS7 Disaster! Oh and also this crashes on most modern browsers too...
jamieomatthews··on [dead]
Same goes for Chrome 29.0.1547.76
jamieomatthews··on Color Test
I have the feeling they aren't checking the input, so anyone could probably POST them some results, and it will put it into the DB. Speaking of which, BRB, let me see if I can lower it to -200
jamieomatthews··on Instacart Expands To Chicago
Chicago though?
jamieomatthews··on A Message To our Customers from our CEO
I assume the customer service rep that responded to this got fired? Yes, its unacceptable for the CEO to say something like this, but its a customer service reps JOB to ALWAYS respond calmly and friendly to customers.

If they really thought he wanted that message forwarded on to the customer, they need to find a new line of work

jamieomatthews··on Everything .NET programmers know about Asynchronous Programming is wrong
After listening, I don't think they mention Task.Factory.StartNew, this is how I usually throw things into the background. Whats wrong with this approach?
jamieomatthews··on Are You A Bad Developer If You Don't Take On Side Projects?
ABH. Always. Be. Hacking.

I think there are plenty of jobs that wont weigh side projects too heavily, as long as what you are working on for your job is awesome. I also think there are companies who like the modo I suggested at the top, and are looking for someone who loves to hack away at projects

jamieomatthews··on Bootstrap 3
I agree that it can bloat, and often customizing components takes as long as simply starting from scratch. However, I really like LESS, and bootstrap is full of some great less utilities. Customizing bootstraps less is a perfect example of why I love it, and how it saves me time
jamieomatthews··on Bootstrap 3
I agree with jvzr, I think it goes hand in hand with a true "mobile first" design.

Most likely, you want to use the full width for your most important stuff going on in your site, and then as the screen gets bigger, maybe you include some extra stuff

jamieomatthews··on TSA searches valet-parked car
Well considering he already practically works on only tips, I do think its messed up that he has to do the NSA's bidding for free
jamieomatthews··on TSA searches valet-parked car
I have a friend who works as a valet to this Airport, and I can confirm there was no pay jump for this. Just a surprise extra duty
