Aha that might be pushing it a little... Thanks for signing up :) be sure to share!

Well you do sometimes get collections of things that are a bit...toy...rather than stuff that's actually useful in a large (in my experience) proportion of projects.

But you have a point ;)

jalada··on Is there any such thing as 'road tax'? (UK: Cars vs Cyclists)
Why not charge pedestrians for use of the pavement and road crossings?

Thanks :)

Ah yes, same applies to facebook.com and many others.

Interesting. Can someone explain what is happening here?

Oh god, we're living in a sci-fi book. Welcome to City 17, it's safer here and we have soylent vending machines.

Good luck. Apple purposefully disables the ability to control where the keyboard is entering text. AFAIK there's no workaround (I’d love to know if there is!)

How much would it cost to install a fume hood? And what are the dangers?
jalada··on Introducing Quip
This is without a doubt the niggliest point ever: Your Twitter app description just says 'Quip application'.
jalada··on Show HN: Echelon – A safe way to manage your company’s Twitter accounts
HootSuite is great, but it's also quite a hefty tool if all you need to do is let people tweet on behalf of n accounts. Also HootSuite works really well if you have a small team of people managing your social media but breaks down (or becomes expensive) if you need to give access to lots of people (this is where you end up with systems involving sharing lists of passwords!).

The idea behind Echelon (and its pricing model) is to promote sensible account security around the simplest of actions - tweeting. The bigger your team the more you pay but otherwise you can divide up your accounts however you want (different amounts of access for different people, etc).

This feedback is really useful; we've struggled to nail the process as it is generally very cumbersome having to sign in & out of Twitter accounts (but it's the most secure way, as opposed to XAuth, which would be a possible alternative).

The key thing here is showing the user they have a new invite/notification, which we will add ASAP.

We don't...it's not particularly heavy on Twitter API usage. What are you thinking of?
jalada··on Show HN: Echelon – A safe way to manage your company’s Twitter accounts
Interesting idea!
jalada··on Show HN: Echelon – A safe way to manage your company’s Twitter accounts
We have some plans to address this so people can continue to use the clients they love.

Yes I noticed this name collision too. At least we didn't call it ECHELON :)
jalada··on Show HN: Echelon – A safe way to manage your company’s Twitter accounts
The landing page mentions that you don't have to share passwords, which is what makes it inherently securer than...well...sharing passwords. Agreed that perhaps it could be clearer that by using access tokens, access can be revoked at any time via Twitter directly which removes the risk (compared to people stealing passwords).

Thanks :)

Thanks, I'll sort that.

Yes, it is. I agree that we probably need to add some real screenshots too :)

Appreciate any feedback. We're only just getting started, there's a long way to go :)

jalada··on Don't be evil: Moving everything off of Google
All good suggestions, but heavily focused on non-collaborative solutions. For example a paper calendar is no good if you regularly use your colleagues calendars to schedule events and know what is going on.

Politics aside, this is a really interesting list of tools I haven't heard of before. Thanks!
jalada··on Commafeed: An Open Source Google Reader Clone
What about http://www.rivered.io? It's not really the same as Google Reader because it is just a River of News instead, but I think that's worth a try, as everyone is very stuck in their ways with Google Reader and I think there's more to RSS than that one paradigm.

(I made it)

jalada··on Feed Wrangler - a modern, sustainable RSS reader
+1 for Feedbin. Simple UI, works well, Reeder integration is a good bonus, though the mobile web-app isn't too shabby.
jalada··on Feed Wrangler - a modern, sustainable RSS reader
I'm definitely going to give this a try, because filtering sounds like an interesting concept, and I might find some inspiration...

For those still seeking new RSS reading experiences (and because I think HN tends to be OK with self-promotion in comments) I'd like to suggest my product - http://www.rivered.io. It's a bit different - focusing on a clean 'river of news' rather than inbox style or categorising. To directly answer some of the questions around FeedWrangler:

- it has an OPML export feature. - it has a free 30 day trial, and you can at least see what it looks like without dropping your card details. - there's a screenshot.

I still think there's a lot of innovation to be done around RSS feeds...

jalada··on Ghost: The Future of Blogging (Node.js)
The irony of when I tried to add their blog to my feed reader (http://www.rivered.io by the way)...it said there was no feed...

Guess RSS doesn't belong in the future.
