jakoblorz··on Companies Shouldn’t Be Accountable Only to Shareholders
"On the assumption that the primary goal of employers is to maximise profits in the interests of shareholders, codetermination can reorient the company's goals in the interests of workers. A better balance may be struck so that the company interests are not so one sided. For unions, codetermination is part of democratising the economy. It is also a way for workers to better the terms and conditions of their contracts in an orderly and regulated way." [1]

This is a 100% match to the remarks made in the article.

jakoblorz··on Why Google Stores Billions of Lines of Code in a Single Repository (2016)
I don't think that there is the one size fits all solution especially if you can't expect basic knowledge about git
jakoblorz··on Taking Go modules for a spin
Go has always been extensively opinionated (gofmt is just one example of that). This is also the beauty of Go - everything is just as expected once you understand the "opinions".

The rather late support of "out-of-tree" building might be caused by a conflict between groups pressing to refrain from the $GOPATH approach (rising in size due to rising Go popularity itself) and Go Dev Team / early-adopters especially as the $GOPATH approach is a central part of Go.

While I can see the intention of Go modules, I believe that many people which belong to the first group migrated from other languages like JavaScript and expect to migrate the workflow as well. I highly encourage everyone to try the $GOPATH approach before rooting for any side.

jakoblorz··on Cognitive Distortions of People Who Get Stuff Done (2012) [pdf]
To add my two cents: I guess that people do not fear getting wiped out as in being killed because the product was bad.

When launching, the dreams / expectations that fueled the development will get "reality-checked". The initial dream comes from the heart, so when the launch fails, people fear that their core identity is being attacked. You could call that the negative side (from a personal pov) of external validation.

Haha I'm sorry, I will edit that.

I don't see any sense in attacking the credibility by the choice of the blogging infrastructure - the author wanted to convey a message, present his findings and he achieved that. This should be the only thing that counts.

I guess the best (even if in a totally opposite field) argument against opinionated choice of web-technologies would be the website of Berkshire Hathaway [1]. They invest in highly sophisticated companies but still use the website that always provided the service they demanded.

jakoblorz··on Thanks Economist, You Really Know What Has Gone Wrong with the Internet
Opinionated: Using the Economist as the example is especially bad because their articles do provide significant value in contrast to most other paywalle'd blogs!

jakoblorz··on Ask HN: What small thing whould you change in the world if given the chance?
That is thoughtful and so true, experienced that myself. More people need to be made aware of that!
jakoblorz··on Ask HN: What are the best ways to get first 100 users for a powerful Slack Bot?
I guess you could write a medium/blog post explaining the pain points you tackle and why your bot relieves your customers off these points: google value proposition canvas. Then try to get this post here on HN as well as Facebook, Twitter dev.to whatever. You need to reach a broad audience
jakoblorz··on Convergence to Kubernetes
I believe this does a good job comparing without going to deep, e.g. for people just getting started on swarm/k8

jakoblorz··on Show HN: Pub Sub Abstraction Layer for Go (WIP)
Hey there! I recently implemented a pub sub backend but had to switch the pub sub broker at some point. I compiled the non-trivial parts such as subscription management into this package so that others do not have to do this work as well.

I am always open for tipps and PRs, especially if more broker drivers are PR'd. brokerutil currently supports redis and a loopback driver, a kafka driver is on its way!

jakoblorz··on Show HN: GOPATH Independent Go Package Manager (WIP)
I really appreciate your concern. I just updated the readme to point the more essential aspects out, there was obviously too much marketing bla bla in it, I see that now. Have a great day!

tr;dl At this point this tool is just a compilation of my personal environment scripts to symlink from a global scope to project, local scoped dependencies.
