itaysk··on Announcing Azure Command-Line Interface 2.0 Preview

itaysk··on Announcing Azure Command-Line Interface 2.0 Preview
Was the submission edited?? The point I wanted to make was about the choice of language, rather then the announcement of the new tools. It's kind of rude TBH...
itaysk··on Announcing Azure Command-Line Interface 2.0 Preview
Personally I find it interesting observing technology choices of large projects, thinking about if I started something similar, what should I choose...
itaysk··on Canadian surgeons urge people to throw out bristle BBQ brushes
Yes.. There no 'al haesh' without that onion dipped in oil
itaysk··on Amazon is piloting teams with a 30-hour workweek
I was (still am) confused because they say employees will be 'salaried' the same and than receive 75% of full time 'earn'. Salary and earn are the same to me.
itaysk··on Amazon is piloting teams with a 30-hour workweek
"These 30-hour employees will be salaried and receive the same benefits as traditional 40-hour workers, but they will receive only 75 percent of the pay full-time workers earn."

How does this sentence make any sense?

itaysk··on Japanese writing system basics
The essence of the post is "In Japanese there are characters that represent words". Is that a surprise to anyone? (I don't speak Japanese or any similar language)
itaysk··on Japanese writing system basics
why is this post getting so many voteups?
itaysk··on How I wrote and published my novel using only open source tools
You do use a mac though...
itaysk··on Google Compute Engine Incident #16015
Shit happens for everyone, and this kind of error could have happened for other clouds as well. It's the responsibility towards customers and lessons learned that matter.
itaysk··on How to escape lock-in with a multi-cloud stack
As someone who worked with Google from a customer perspective, they take pride in the fact that their big data (BigTable, BigQuery, DataFlow) is proprietary and superior the their OSS alternatives (I believe they actually are). I am not saying that they should OSS it, if they build something so awesome that differentiate them, they should know how to monetize it. But at least don't come off with a post like this.
itaysk··on Awkward – A Node.js-based terminal emulator
Like. But PowerShell still rules. Wish it was oss and x-plat
itaysk··on Microsoft Orleans – An approach to building distributed applications in .NET
I think that because its a virtual actor with different characteristics that regular well known actors it might be a good idea to call or differently to avoid confusion.
itaysk··on Oracle and the fall of Java EE
Java always had an awesome open source community around it that produced frameworks, libraries and tools that inspired many other communities. but at it's core, Oracle was and still is the exact opposite of open (JVM, J2EE as examples). That makes me wander why Java was always considered the icon of open source.
itaysk··on The Monaco Code Editor
Why would they use IE, the use Edge :)
itaysk··on How bad is the Windows command line really?
I use PowerShell ISE 99% of the time I write PS, so I don't experience any of these.. but valid suggestions, should go on the PS \ commandline uservoice.
itaysk··on Google Fonts Redesigned
Windows 10 latest, Edge latest
itaysk··on How bad is the Windows command line really?
Agree about Windows command prompt being lame compared to bash, but I really find PowerShell amazing, even more so then bash. If you look at all the recent (even not so recent) products from MS, it is clear that PowerShell is the shell for Windows, and not batch. I didn't get the cure for polio analogy that's in the article but I really think anyone that's comparing shells should compare with PowerShell.
itaysk··on People suck at technical interviews (2014)
Interviewing is hard.. I always hated the idea of judging someone based on a 1 hour chat (I was always the tech interviewer or first screen). I also hate that interviewers aim to challenge the candidate with hard technical questions that they might have or might have not had experience with.

So what I do is ask the candidate to tell me about their experience, past projects, and also frankly ask them "what are you most comfortable talking about" and continue diving from here. When they talk about a topic they claim to be experienced with, you can really see what they worth. When someone can't fluently discuss something his claims to be knowledgeable in (yes that happened), that's a bad sign.

itaysk··on Show HN: New calendar app idea
I like the creativity, but I think for daily use I still prefer the table inspired week view (or 3 day view for portrait mode) as it gives me a better sense of orientation. For execution you get A+ :) really well executed.
itaysk··on TypeScript Won
The charts are not to say the TypeScript is better then Babel, it's to show that 'it has won'
itaysk··on Drawbridge – Windows Containers 5 years ago?
Reading about the latest announcements of Ubuntu on Windows lead me to this fascinating concept from MS I did not know about. Too bad they were focused on the desktop scenario and not the server (although they do mention it).
itaysk··on How to Start Running
I forced myself to switch from heel to tow strike and suffer a lot from those Achilles and Calf.
itaysk··on How to Start Running
> Some people are natural heel-strikers while others tend to lead with their toes. The good news: neither form is inherently better than the other

That is in opposite to common knowledge that heel-striking is worse, and leads to increased injuries.
