Some things I never knew until recently:
- PTO isn't federally and legally required yet most companies do it
- Some states have some influence on PTO policy
- Southwest Airlines is a Texas-headquartered company
- Because of claims that MSM are either incompetent or narrative-driven, secondary and tertiary conjectures leading to this headline should be considered as well
- Lastly, a visit to Wikipedia yielded this line:
> If PTO hours go unused, employees may sometimes call in sick near the end of the year so they can obtain the benefit of paid leave before it disappears. Employers may counter this tendency by paying employees for some or all of their unused days at year-end or upon retirement or resignation.[1]
My only gripe is that this utility may soon become deprecated as Android continues to update their convoluted storage schemes.
But you didn't have to go all the way back in history though. In my opinion, CNN's trope of succession is largely forgotten today in this specific journalism-is-dead context but unless "hackers" have been living under a rock for the past few years, pointing this out is far more important than continuing to cherrypick out the headlines. Remember when HN was all about punk/hackers culture from two decades ago? Times have certainly changed.
I have seen more humanity in people than I would normally expose myself to but more about those caught in the crossfire. Two examples I can think of was the story of a Seattle security guard snatching away a rifle from a group of rioters whom freshly pillaged a police car and, an urban explorer vlogging his departure from Seattle as a result from the protests.

Context matters.
I have a difficult time undestanding it myself but found the Asianometry YT channel being able to put things into the greater overall context on why things are the way they are.
Yeah well he certainly does now, however brief it was.
Can you source this or is this your personal opinion of him? I'm trying to understand why you're defining this as a purely oligarchal issue where there are many other such instances of oligarchism in history whether it'd be politics or tech/FAANG.
> ..not because of his political experience.
Well he's certainly no Reagan given his class(ism) progression or upbringing, as described on Wikipedia. Is that really the issue here though, because he lacked "political experience" upon entry into the presidency?
^ Was responding to this. He really _was_ an actor prior to becoming governor of California. Actor, media mogul, "game show host", why should it be any different? Even Michael Bloomberg served in politics as mayor of NYC.
Because he had a gun in hand not because of his forced labor practices.
Opting into [a feature] should be as easy as opting out. I for one don't mind people making their data available for analysis but to include a blanket default opt-in for everything is the very reason why "absurd overregulation" exists now.
> It is curious that they chose depression and cognitive decline because , even if you diagnose them , depression is iffy to treat and i dont know anything to prescribe for cognitive decline
Especially when depression and cognitive decline can be so subjective. For example, I think CSAM is quite objectively understood as detrimental for everyone but is it really in Apple's interest to specify a systemwide implementation for all of their product lines to combat this behavior?
Although they're not specifically tailored for the American market, folks whom are looking to enter or are following the digital minimalism lifestyle have been snatching them off Aliexpress and making review content for them.
The experience of using Google to search in China is vastly different than the rest of the world, unless you rely on a VPN service. IIRC, VPN usage is illegal and is reserved for the more state-sponsored "privileged users".
