I would frown to see "out of control" though.
Just like the short scene spoken by the Bene Gesserit in the 2021 film:
B.G: "..our plans are measured in centuries; we have other prospects if he fails his promise." .. "On Arrakis we have done all we can for you. The path has been laid, let's hope he doesn't squander it."
Not necessarily. The state still takes a percentage eg: property tax, maintenance, utilities, safety certifications, etc.
Only implemented recently iirc.
I'm lost from here..

This story reminds me of an urban legend that the Sony Playstation 2 consoles almost hit a snag on an export ban because of "potential military applications". Different era, different context I suppose.

I remember stories of how Chia was somehow attributed to why HDD prices skyrocketed or something.
That is fucking infuriating. Imagine if the "my body, my choice" redirected to a "my computer, my choice" idea.
iirc, there were some mainstream and social media stories of the recent "events" concerning the country of Kazakhstan regarding banning of bitcoin mining and the political unrest (and or violence that ensued). The blip you experienced may have been a direct result from this.
