isuckatcoding··on Air Canada agents reveal overselling practices
In other news, capitalism is a thing. This is the system the world has come to accept. This kind of behavior is just a symptom of a larger problem with how corporations strive for profit over people.
isuckatcoding··on Rise of Netflix Competitors Has Pushed Consumers Back Toward Piracy
Of course it’s much easier to pay for a cheap VPN and use one of those torrent streaming services.
isuckatcoding··on Go 2, here we come
Non-go user here. So what are the most desired fratures from Go 2 in the community?

I remember something about generics not being supported.

Dodged a bullet here. I didn’t make it pass the first interview call back in 2016 lol.
isuckatcoding··on AirConsole – Play multiplayer games together
Awww man good point
isuckatcoding··on AirConsole – Play multiplayer games together
This is fantastic! I've been looking for a way to play games long distance with my SO who doesn't have a console or a beast PC.
isuckatcoding··on Serverless: Cold Start War
I feel as if the whole "warm up the lamba as a pre-step"-thing takes away from the whole benefit of serverless. I wonder if AWS Lambda could be smart enough to anticipate requests based on some historical or daily pattern. Also, I'd be curious to know if it is still cost effective to use lambda with this technique (pre-warming) or to straight up go for a EC2 instance.
isuckatcoding··on How WhatsApp Destroyed a Village
This is an India problem more than a Whatsapp problem and its been going on long before Whatsapp existed. Rural india and even Pakistan have a serious mob justice mentality.
isuckatcoding··on Headless Chrome support in Cloud Functions and App Engine
Thanks makes sense it would be based on use case. Not sure who is petty enough to downvote my comment.
isuckatcoding··on Headless Chrome support in Cloud Functions and App Engine
I wonder how feature/pricing compete with Browserless?
isuckatcoding··on Announcing TypeScript 3.0
How well does Typescript play with existing node packages? Last I checked you need to do some work extra work (typings?) to get it working. That's the biggest reason I've not yet switched over to typescript.
isuckatcoding··on Jsonnet – A data templating language
Of course not to be confused with https://jasonette.com/

Naming things is the hardest thing...

isuckatcoding··on Polly.js – Record, replay, and stub HTTP interactions
Unrelated but There are so many things called Polly that it gets confusing
isuckatcoding··on Ask HN: Pros and cons of working at a startup in 2018?
Maybe Glassdoor and Angellist are not good sources but nowhere have I found any kind of jobs with that level of compensation. Then again, 100k-250k is a HUGE range and I imagine the distribution is heavily skewed towards the lower end.
isuckatcoding··on The ties between Silicon Valley and the military run deep
Surprised that Palantir wasn't mentioned
isuckatcoding··on Ask HN: What's your favorite way of getting a web app up quickly in 2018?
Sorry What did you mean by $+2? I see $7 for their hobby instance..?
isuckatcoding··on Ready for Production Apps: Flutter Beta 3
It looks like you could "wrap" native libraries using custom packages: https://flutter.io/developing-packages/#plugin.

I'm curious which AWS APIs you'd want to connect your mobile app directly to. S3/ SQS?

isuckatcoding··on I became CEO at 20. Here's what I learned
Funny when you go on the mixpanel glassdoor, many of them talk quite negatively about this CEO (I believe he stepped down recently)

Not to say the advice is bad

isuckatcoding··on Proxy, a new JavaScript ES6 feature

Seems to have a decent coverage for most users

isuckatcoding··on Tesla is holding a hackathon to fix two robot bottlenecks in Model 3 production
“Hackathon” - oh weee I’d love to work 100+ hours to “win” the prize. This isn’t worker exploitation or overworking at all. /s
isuckatcoding··on Elon Musk reveals his productivity rules in a letter he sent to Tesla employees
I’m a fan of Elon as much as much as any other person but I think a lot of this only works for someone like Elon.

Workaholism isn’t fun nor is it healthy. Maybe for single people it can work but if you give a damn about family or friends it will slowly destroy your life.

isuckatcoding··on Our Big Data Search Engine Is for Sale
Why are you selling? What’s the MRR? Some stats on the business may be useful to prospective buyers.
isuckatcoding··on An attempt to upgrade to Webpack 4
Hi Sean.

I certainly didn't mean to bring you down or disparage the work of the webpack team/project in anyway. For me, the way the gist itself was written was just too funny.

Anyways, thank you for all your hard work.

isuckatcoding··on An attempt to upgrade to Webpack 4
So I found this gist as I was googling for my webpack error. Originally was trying to get the uglify plugin to work. Then I said screw uglify and STILL couldn't get it work.

I gave up and ended up using Rollbar.

isuckatcoding··on PhantomJS: Archiving the project, suspending development
I would think PhantomJS is still quite heavily used so having some kind of migrator to puppeteer would be useful. I’m sure people would pay $$$ for it.
isuckatcoding··on How we built Hamiltix.net for less than $1 a month on AWS
Great work! I love reading stories like this. Lambda isn’t for every usecase but I’d say a large majority of CRUD apps can use this architecture and reduce costs.
