I wish others would also appreciate a little bit of humor on HN, but everything like that gets downvoted all the time.
istvan__··on Docker, CoreOS, Google, Microsoft, Amazon to Develop Common Container Standard
The value added here is a non-fragmented container ecosystem. This would be huge, at least to me.
istvan__··on Greece’s Proposals to End the Crisis
I see. What is you suggested solution?
istvan__··on Greece’s Proposals to End the Crisis
I guess than the greek people should go find those people who were cooking the books and hold them accountable.

I yet to see how the bad greek government is anybody else's problem other than the voters who put them in place and the country itself. Politicians like to take credit for every progress but never take the blame.

Imagine if you did the same thing as a leader of a corporation. Why is it different than bad leaders of a country? Just because politicians are historically untouchable?

What is the guarantee that it wont happen again with the current government? Did anything change?

It is kind of interesting that on one hand people are talking about how rewriting is bad (especially managers like to think that any subpar solution should be kept around just because it works 90% of the time) and the other side is how much money you can lose because you refuse to reimplement. When it comes to security I think it is extremely dangerous go for the first one as the example shows.
istvan__··on Visa Systems Issues
Such a muppet show this entire situation there.
istvan__··on Greece’s Proposals to End the Crisis
Saying removed 40% of something without knowing what is the original number and how it relates to other countries is not really informative. Greek pensions often outperformed German pensions and this is just wrong. The country essentially financed this by taking in more dept. Also please consider that this entire situation did not develop over night. There was the gross negligence of the financial leaders of the country for a very long time that yielded the current situation.
istvan__··on Greece’s Proposals to End the Crisis
I am not sure if Germany at fault here, bringing in the euro was not forced by them and Greece was cooking the books to get in.

I think most of southern Europe should be not in the euro zone at all, their economy would have better time on a weaker currency.

istvan__··on Encryption “would not have helped” at OPM, says DHS official
This is gold: "OPM CIO Donna Seymour said that systems couldn't simply have encryption added because some of them were over 20 years old and written in COBOL."
istvan__··on How for-profit prisons have become the biggest lobby no one is talking about
We should just call lobbying the same way it is called in other countries: corruption. The problem with legalizing corruption that corporations gain way to much power.

I never liked Pandora, I was forcing myself to use it but they have limited music and their recommendation engine was a joke. It might work for hip-hop vs. heavy metal context but when it comes to sub-genres in electronic music not so much.
istvan__··on European Court Strikes Down Law Allowing Users to Rip Their Own CDs
All correct what you are saying. This was exactly my point that Bandcamps revenue goes to artists (mostly).

I am not sure what you are talking about when you say lured. This game is very complex. What happens if some secret services decide to infiltrate a government or create political situation that pushes to country towards wanting to join the NATO. Would that qualify for lured? The amount of false flag ops happening I would not be surprised that some of these things were planned in Ukraine.

Russia is not bullying here. What do you think the USA would do if China was deploying ballistic weapons to North Mexico? This is exactly the same situation. The west and the east could live together for almost 20 years with very low friction. Any expansion on any of the sides would leave to imbalance and more friction. And for your information, the country I am from, would be pretty damn happy to get back Russia. See http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/03/30/us-russia-europe-h...

Almost 50% of the country is pro-russia. There is lots of populism going on and it is so easy to get nostalgic about an era you can barely remember but the beer & bread was cheaper than now.

I think the the NATO should just stay in countries where they were before and not to play with this very dangerous situation. Just a reminder that USA would use nuclear force if the society would not stop it. That would lead to an absolute devastating demolition of entire countries and (worst case) long term nuclear pollution.

That is very clear. Putin gain massive support in Russia with these moves, of course this is melting away after the embargo kicked in. The problem with that is two fold. The embargo directly hurts EU's economy (look at the Mistral class ship deal with France) and the lower oil price triggered a massive buying up operation in China making them even stronger than before. Basically USA's (and more broadly the Western world's) influence hurting their allies and enabling the other parties (China) to gain even more power. This sort of play is not good for us in the long run.

"In early 2015, Bandcamp released an announcement that artists using the website had officially gotten $100 million in total from music sale"

Total music industry is 15B (afaik). It is 1/150th of the entire music industry and that is just one site. I think the artist make more on Bandcamp and other music distribution platforms than on big labels, that might be the reason why Bandcamp is greatly successful.

I must be living in a parallel universe, I cannot explain otherwise having a memory of all i said...

I only found the one below about the negotiations between NATO and Russia of not expanding to the east, no article on the warns prior annexing parts of Ukraine. Putyin's reason for the annexation was to "save" Russians from the international interference with legitimate government in Ukraine. This is all available on this side of the internet now.

This was the discussion:

http://www.military.com/daily-news/2013/10/22/rasmussen-no-n...

At this stage the NATO and allies knew that Russia is not happy with their plans on eastern expansion. I am trying to find a proof that they were aware of the annexation plans.

Not in English available in Google apparently. I try to dig it up from the other languages + using duckduckgo.
istvan__··on WikiLeaks Begins Releasing Leaked Saudi Arabia Cables
Sure. I think it started around here:

http://rt.com/politics/russia-ukraine-europe-pressure-440/

The funny thing is, I was reading about this and discussed with our friends but I cannot find any reference in Google about it anymore. It feakin' weird because I am 100% it happened. Right now it is happening again btw:

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/russia-warns-...

They did the same thing with Ukraine situation. I am still digging. I can't read Russian anymore though. :)

istvan__··on European Court Strikes Down Law Allowing Users to Rip Their Own CDs
Good old greed. The speed CDs and the music industry is disappearing probably will solve this issue going forward. Music is getting more and more fragmented and smaller and smaller styles show up that are very specific to a particular location. This will help to dismantle the music industry lobby probably.

Do they have anything? Russia was relatively ok in the last 20 years (except the wars against Georgia, Chechen wars). They never really hide their actions, like annexing Crimea was communicated way in advance to the NATO, like in years. The western media barely mentions it. There was an earlier agreement between the NATO and Russia that we are not expanding to the east direction in the EU and we do not interfere with Russian interests in ex-soviet countries. Anyways it would be good to see more information from WL on these, I am really curious what went down exactly.

He is not angry, he is tired. He is tired of propaganda, misrepresentation, vicious attacks on social platforms, and the endless rage that is coming from that community.

Our virtual workplace (GitHub) is a social code sharing platform for people who want to make this world better by contributing their hard work to the community, that is humanity.

Imagine that after working free, doing your best to improve this society with your contribution, there is a vicious troll coming in and asking you to deny access to one of you contributors because he disagrees on his personal twitter account.

Would want to contribute code after that? You have to realized that if all of these people are intimidated to maintain online presence and contribute code we are not going to have this rich open source ecosystem.

Another angle for the problem:

When you are unhappy about something the productive successful people go and fix it. The less productive people are raging about it. In this context if you are unhappy about his tweet you go and message him on twitter and start a civil conversation. You don't go to his workplace and trying to discredit him with lies and false information. This is usually done by extremists (pretty common practice in my country, neonazis do that all the time).

Until now, I was part of the silent group that does not fight back, but that came to an end with the opal story. It is our (the political centre) responsibility to not let this society slide to extremism by any mean. If we don't do that, we gonna end up with a divided society that is less humane and open than it was before.

istvan__··on No Code of Conduct
Social has very little to do with political agenda and misrepresenting people that I was referring to. Example: https://github.com/opal/opal/issues/941

What the guy said:

https://twitter.com/krainboltgreene/status/61156951531550720...

It is very sad that this is happening.

Question to you what has social to do with political extremists?

istvan__··on No Code of Conduct
Long time needed project, recent developments on Github where people try to turn a version management system for code hosting and working into a political platform have to be stopped. #politicsfree
