Actually I've been wanting to write something like that for a long time but didn't get around to it. Nice to see someone else did exactly what I wanted...
This is the only way.
The action suggested is building schools in a totally different country.
That demonstrate in a very morbid way the inability of good people in the first world to help people in the rest of the world, without getting up from their chair.
by the way, no need to invent a new calendar. the Hebrew calendar is both solar and lunar.
I just can't seem to solve this bug, no matter how hard I try... It's in my side project: http://www.hashworld.co/ it's written in Java under App Engine. If you want to give a try, send me an email at hmo@hashworld.co and I'll send you details.
How I can help:
I'd love to help out in interesting problems, especially relating to scaling and making sites always live.
actually i think the two methods of division are entirely pointless to teach youth. they are both mechanical algorithms that contribute very very little to the logical sophistication of kids, especially when you consider the other things you could teach them instead (set theory).
in other words, one method is short but easily forgotten, the other is long and remembered, but actually in real life you don't need to remember how to divide numbers and you also don't need to do it fast.
besides, they started to gain popularity before the widespread of unlimited plans, at least in my country
