iriche··on Getting website registration completely wrong
I was surprised over how much hate I received on my comment, even with this feature we get a ton non valid emails. I don't want to think of how many we would get without it.
iriche··on Getting website registration completely wrong
Yes, just the e-mail field, to do it on password field is just annoyance.
iriche··on Getting website registration completely wrong
Did I say I did it on password field or at login?

EDIT: Edited my main commented due to a comment regarding password fields blocking CTRL+V

iriche··on Getting website registration completely wrong
We have disabled CTRL+C, CTRL+V on our site, just due to this, so users really need to validate there email.

EDIT: Just to clarify since someone took up a example with no paste on password. We just have this function on the email-field.

iriche··on Bitbucket Offline

iriche··on Ask HN: Buffer got hacked - does anyone know details?
Just got this email:

Hi there,

I wanted to get in touch to apologize for the awful experience we've caused many of you on your weekend. Buffer was hacked around 1 hour ago, and many of you may have experienced spam posts sent from you via Buffer. I can only understand how angry and disappointed you must be right now.

Not everyone who has signed up for Buffer has been affected, but you may want to check on your accounts. We're working hard to fix this problem right now and we're expecting to have everything back to normal shortly.

We're posting continual updates on the Buffer Facebook page and the Buffer Twitter page to keep you in the loop on everything.

The best steps for you to take right now and important information for you:

Remove any postings from your Facebook page or Twitter page that look like spam Keep an eye on Buffer's Twitter page and Facebook page Your Buffer passwords are not affected No billing or payment information was affected or exposed All Facebook posts sent via Buffer have been temporarily hidden and will reappear once we've resolved this situation I am incredibly sorry this has happened and affected you and your company. We're working around the clock right now to get this resolved and we'll continue to post updates on Facebook and Twitter.

If you have any questions at all, please respond to this email. Understandably, a lot of people have emailed us, so we might take a short while to get back to everyone, but we will respond to every single email.

- Joel and the Buffer team

iriche··on Ask HN: Buffer got hacked - does anyone know details?
Yes, they do, still makes you think twice don't it?
iriche··on Ask HN: Buffer got hacked - does anyone know details?
So it seems that they deleted all old posts without checking source?
iriche··on Ask HN: Buffer got hacked - does anyone know details?
I posted something on Facebook too it seemed, removed it instant. But yeah, kind of makes you think twice of what services to use
iriche··on Mozilla Australis: Firefox from the UX branch
Did I just start Chrome?
iriche··on Important Customer Security Announcement
Then I need to investigate if our payment provider provides this service :)
iriche··on Important Customer Security Announcement
And what do you do when the payment provider you use sucks, and you want to move to a new one? Oh right! Every existing customer have to sign up again, and input the same info again.

That's the reason to aim for PCI compliance your self.

iriche··on DataTables – Table plug-in for jQuery
I wrote a small library in Python for DataTables when I got tired over that there was no easy way of doing backend processing for it.

https://github.com/starstable/PonyTable

Warning, probably not PEP-8 and can probably be improved in a tons of places.

iriche··on Ask HN: Lifetime pricing for SAAS App?
A lot of games are doing that, why not a SAAS app?
iriche··on Cloud server showdown: Amazon AWS EC2 vs. Linode vs. DigitalOcean
Now you can increase that to 6 parts since Linode increased to 6 cores :)
iriche··on Linode hacked, CCs and passwords leaked
And right now we got confirmed on IRC that data is out, we do not know how much, 4 last numbers of CCs are out but that doesn't mean that full CCs are out.

E-mails and logins are also out it seems.
