It depends on what your goal is. Is it to make money? Go with your default and get an MVP out by the 10th Jan. Seriously. You can always rewrite it once you have paying customers and know it's not a complete waste of your time.

If it is to learn, I am trying out Ember JS atm and it seems pretty good.

My aim for 2015 is to spend more time with my family. To do this will probably involve a change of job etc. But that is my main goal.

An app that shows an overview of what my child is doing online...I'd pay good money for the peace of mind that would bring...but maybe I am just paranoid.

I tried to manage my own accounts but after a year you soon realise you're better off having an accountant. Your time is too valuable to be doing something that doesn't directly add value to your business. It's also very reassuring knowing when I get a letter from HMRC I don't fully understand they are only a phone call away.

If you offer RSS I wouldn't have to pay (I assume) - if you had an API I would use it for commercial use.

It means this is the wrong place to moan about it.

When you add more topics, I would pay for API access to get an hourly list of popular stories in each topic. If this is ever added please let me know :-)

Love the idea! Have you considered this from a job search point of view?...go to twitter, search for #job and quickly build a list of jobs to be checked later. Especially if you summarise the content etc. Might be better as a separate service but it appears you have all the tools :-)!

It looks good - not sure I would personally pay for a contact form but can see why other people would. I did click your contact page and see you're using it (always good!) - I then tried it on a mobile and the form is not usable :( - I would fix that as it will be a big pain point for users.

I clicked 'Join Beta Program' but it doesn't take me anywhere :( - this is something I would use too.

I like the idea - I'm not currently using gmail so I can't try it but it's on my todo list. If you would be cool if you could save templates for the draft emails for example "Current Client", "Lead".
