ionelm··on Mod_python - the long story
There is no compelling reason to switch to or use passenger. Only the enterprise version is feature-parity equivalent to mod_wsgi. Ofcourse mod_wgsi doesn't have an external daemon (the flying mode) but uWSGI has that and many other non-equated features ...
ionelm··on An unofficial alternative to the HN interface
Is there a firefox extension or greasemonkey script for that?

Edit: There's http://userstyles.org/styles/46180/georgify-for-hacker-news

ionelm··on The algorithm for a perfectly balanced photo gallery
Not only that it breaks zoom, at certain window ratios (eg: 480x800) is completely fails - I get this error: TypeError: solution[(n - 1)] is undefined @ http://www.chromatic.io/application.a3c7ec1cbcca0f5a77fbc1dc...

I've done stuff like this in the past, if you want something that works: https://github.com/ionelmc/jquery-gp-gallery

ionelm··on Haskell for Web Developers
Set aside the small examples and theory about what's best, no argument beats a real world example.

Are there any large opensource haskell web apps that one could read to see how it really done ?

ionelm··on DjangoAdmin 2.0 - rewrite of django.contrib.admin
That's horrible to integrate with other django apps that override admin templates or do anything that's not trivial. Reusability => 0.
ionelm··on Firefox Developer Tool Features for Firefox 23
You can't customize shortcuts, the default ones are pretty bad - forcing you to use two hands to operate the inspector (on qwerty layout at least).

I've given up completely on Firefox as a developer's browser ... Chrome's dev tools are better, faster - they don't crash your browser or make it unusable like Firebug.

ionelm··on Process Managers: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
The article is a bit wrong about supervisord. You can load environment variables from a defaults file - just use a wrapper script. Eg:

  #!/bin/sh
  source /etc/myservice/defaults
  exec celeryd $@
And start that from supervisord.

Also, another nice thing, very useful for daemons that spawn their own subprocesses is killasgroup option. This is worth mentioning given the celery examples - celery can and will leave orphan processes around between restarts ...

ionelm··on A single line of Basic sends readers into a labyrinth
You can write it like this:

    python -c "while 1:import sys,random;sys.stdout.write(random.choice('\/'))"
and it's shorter too !
