innocenat··on The ReMarkable Streaming Tool v2: Elevating Remote Work Efficiency
Remarkable 2 can't even run Android apps, the main selling point of Onyx Boox. You can't read Kindle book, Libby, whatever service your local library use, etc.
innocenat··on The ReMarkable Streaming Tool v2: Elevating Remote Work Efficiency
If you could, yes. Unfortunately Onyx Boox offers one of a kind products which its competitors don't really come close.
innocenat··on Exploring the Internals of Linux v0.01
I think you need CLI; HLT as HLT by itself still allow machine to be woke up from interrupt.

ITU-R UHDTV Standard, the mainstream 4K TV standard, use Rec 2020.

In theory you can use any color primaries with any video resolution in computer (NOT on TV as those normally only support mainstream standard) as long as the the color space metadata is properly set, but in practise, some softwares ignore the metadata or the metadata got lost in the video processing chain. So in general, 4K video use Rec 2020, HD/FHD use Rec 709, and SD use Rec 601, for maximum compatibility.

On the other hand, I moved from MacBook to ThinkPad and holy crap it's just so much easier to use.
innocenat··on IntelliJ IDEA 2023.2
"Eventually" is definitely the keyword here. I remember problem with Setting Sync (where the Material Theme UI plugin would bloat the setting size too large for it to sync and it just throw error without allowing user to try to fix it) that was on their issue tracker for years until one day a dev came in, asked for the log, and the entire thing was fixed within a week.
innocenat··on Iosevka typeface for code, from code
Other than that nice font is nice on the eye when you are staring at them for hours on end, I find that Iosevka does improve my workflow because I could pack more on my screen. Before Iosevka I was using Fira Code (because of ligatures), and before that I was using Courier New/Consolas.
innocenat··on SVGmix is a massive collection of free SVG icons and brand logos
I believe most SVG icon license require attribution to be on all pages that the icon appear in, not just the legalese page.
innocenat··on CSS findings from the Threads app
I know that is how its defined in the spec. But your original comment imply that it's literally 1/96 of an inch everywhere regardless of the device.
innocenat··on How Manga Was Translated for America
Isn't it just problem in general translation rather than specific problem with Japanese? I couldn't think of any good translation for "Amen" in Japanese that is as compact either. Or something like "Bless you", whose concept doesn't exist in Japanese.
innocenat··on CSS findings from the Threads app
If you change system UI zoom setting then the 1 pixel size in the browser change with zoom. At 200% web 1px is actual 2px. I am not sure how it could be "1/96th of an inch" when it can change size depend on the system setting.
innocenat··on No CSS Club
Yes, that's the joke.
innocenat··on CSS findings from the Threads app
That's only true on (most) mobile devices. px is still 1 pixel on Desktop with 100% system UI zoom (e.g. non-hidpi monitors).
innocenat··on CSS findings from the Threads app
I love grid because it allow me to position elements anywhere in the grid without needing wrapper elements like with flex/float. That allow nearly full freedom in layouting the same HTML for different complex layouts targeting different screen width.

Though while grid borrowed a lot of ideas from flex, the creative usage of the grid template is so vast that you probably need to also learn by examples.

innocenat··on No CSS Club
Good old codepage to the rescue!

(Yes, I know technically codepage isn't ASCII. I guess you could use box drawing extension to draw foreign language character if you wanted. Or maybe just SVG of the text)

innocenat··on No CSS Club
Then you can't join the no CSS club.
innocenat··on No CSS Club
You can use table, bgcolor, <font> etc. Or worse, images in tables. Just like the old day.
innocenat··on Aptos, our modern successor to Calibri
Office has options to embed fonts in the document file since I could remember.
innocenat··on The Anti-Ownership eBook Economy
Kindle now have a web interface to upload EPUB too.
innocenat··on Goodreads has no incentive to be good
Tried Storygraph once and it lacks Japanese books so I still stick with Goodreads unfortunately.
innocenat··on Noticing when an app is only hosted in us-east-1
> Preview images of what? Images usually should be routed through a CDN which caches them directly in the user's country. It's extremely cheap and easy to set up. Nothing compared to running an application in multiple datacenters.

I don't think most service cache data that isn't normally used in that region. In my experience I noticed that Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook feel sluggish when you are viewing Japanese content from Singapore compared to viewing the same content in Japan, etc.

innocenat··on Instant Brands, maker of Instant Pot and Pyrex cookware, files for bankruptcy
That's the idea but as someone who have been in Asia all my life rarely do people eat the entire cup per meal. 0.5-0.7 cup per person is more common this days for standard meal.
innocenat··on Reddit.com appears to be having an outage
If it is because of that it sure isn't just me because Downdetector and RedditStatus also show blips in outage during those time.
innocenat··on Reddit.com appears to be having an outage
If it doesn't it sure feel that way. Around 12am to 2am Japan time there will be a period of time where I simply cannot access Reddit.
innocenat··on Cities: Skylines II [video]
Pure walkable city is the feature of Plaza and Promenade DLC. It allow you to create a pedestrian-only district.

Reddit almost always have problem around this time everyday though.
innocenat··on Windows 11 calls a zip file a 'postcode file' in UK English
I would hate if Microsoft "fix" it because it has been this way since at least Win 98 and is what I am used to.

In many countries, chargeback require proof that you did not receive the service. Which make chargeback nearly impossible outside of outright scam.
innocenat··on The Story behind ASINs – Amazon Standard Identification Numbers (2021)
No. A USB side-loaded book in AZW3 or KFX format with embedded ASIN, and tagged EBOK, is treated as Amazon books. Everything sent via Send to Kindle is tagged PDOC so they behave differently.

Normally, books sent via USB can't use Whispersync to sync reading position between different devices. OP is saying that if you embed ASIN into the book (can just be a random ASIN) and sideload the same books to multiple device, they will sync, too.
