imp0cat··on Suica, Japan's First IC Transit Card
> If you bought unlimited ticket

And that's the difference. IIRC, you have to periodically top up your Suica card with money which then gets deducted from the balance each time you use it.

In Europe, there is no such thing - sure, you can buy a lot of single ride tickets and then use them when you need to, but you have to stamp the ticket when you start each ride, which does seem a little more inconvenient.

imp0cat··on Air Conditioning Is Not a Luxury, It Is a Necessity
Exactly. While I personaly don't have a problem with AC condensate dripping down on the street, I can see how some people might not be used to that.

Best would probably be to use the existing rainwater pipes that lead down to the sewers - all building have those. But good luck getting that past your HOA-equivalent, as that will most probably involve some modifications to the building and we can't have that, no!

imp0cat··on Air Conditioning Is Not a Luxury, It Is a Necessity
In a typical mini-split, the water flows to the outside unit and exits the system there, so you either have a pump or a sufficiently sloped pipe from the inside unit to the outside unit.

edit: I guess you could route the drain pipe anywhere if you wanted, so I retract my previous statement.

imp0cat··on Air Conditioning Is Not a Luxury, It Is a Necessity
You can have drain pipes installed, but you can also just collect the water in a bucket and empty it periodically. That requires no extra investment of money, just a tiny bit of your willpower and manpower, depending on the size of the bucket.

There are also systems that spray the water back at the AC unit to cool it down, this is supposed to both improve efficiency and evaporate the water so you don't have to deal with it. I am sure those have some downsides, too.

Nah, that is the most fun part.

But only if said Roomba is unable to find enough sugar on the ground for a few days. Otherwise, it's completely self-sufficient, you just have to leave enough crumbs on the floor.

If you are not averse to an off-the-shelf solution, Broadlink RM4 PRO universal remote will do both IR and 433MHz wireless (records and replays codes). The temperature and humidity sensor which you can plug-in if you need it is sold separately though (Broadlink HTS2).

imp0cat··on It's a shame what's happened to radio
Right, you'd need a really strong signal.

Also, I believe that is exactly the reason why FM tuners are being phased out.

Streaming services will nowadays give you uninterrupted playback pretty much anywhere, even in places like large buildings or subway tunnels, where radio coverage is nonexistent. Basically it all boils down to the fact that cell network coverage is much better today.

imp0cat··on Writing by hand is good for your brain
That's quite similar to the "start from the shoulder and use your whole arm to strum" concept when playing the guitar.

If you could go back in time and show your younger self Spotify streamed wirelessly from a phone via AA/AC, now that would be magical. Pretty much endless amount of music delivered instantly.

But I understand that it is a different kind of magic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-kqUkZnDcM (VW Cabrion Pink Moon ad)
