Social discovery is not just about social proof but also about getting signal from noise. With 70k games and growing knowing what games your friends are playing is a great way of decided what games to try out. Price cost of games may be low but no one has time to try them all out.
Check-ins are more of a broadcast mechanism rather than a gamifying one. Some users check-in for badges but a lot do it for broadcasting to the community. We are going to be providing more value to check-ins by also recommending games from them. Did you get a chance to try it out?
its based on an asymmetric follow model which means you can also just follow people whose game interests you like
Been using it for a few weeks now. Its the only way I get to inbox zero. Though not sure it definitely increases me actually getting to all those tasks :)
Given that most YC companies will still go on to raise a seed angel round after this 150k, they will be hit by extra pro-rata dilution. If we assume a $5m seed round post money, then the 150k translates to 3%. If you raise a VC round with a VC that insists on a 20% stake then the overall affect is 0.6% extra dilution. Every point hurts at that stage, but not that bad :).
Pro rata rights cause more dilution in later rounds, but they are pretty standard and at seed rounds most people don't think about removing that term.
Don't skip over slides or avoid the truth but deal with emphasizing the positives. So if you have been growing 50% per month for 3 months but you only have one inexperienced founder, put the team slide at the end and talk about the traction early and how you have got there.
Also generally every hole will drop a certain number of investors and decrease the overall valuation.
VCs do mostly require some sort of deck.
What we're working on: Mobile (iPhone, iPad, Android), export & backup, collaboration & sharing, better moving, and about a million other small improvements.
We are building a platform for Social and Mobile games. Smart engineers of any experience are welcome to apply, Rails, iPhone and Android experience a bonus. http://www.heyzap.com/jobs
I like that is like the desktop and open enough to be abused. I prefer that to approval process based systems.
